Junker has just announced that their wont be a further extension. So even if Boris asks for a further extension it's likely to be rejected in order to stop this dragging on further and our MEP's taking their seats. Junker also probably realises that if one member state vetos the extension that it wouldn't happen anyway. Thw issue is now quite clear, if Boris loses the vote on Saturday and the EU refuses an extension then I think the public will blame Labour primarily if it's a no deal: If you are an ardent Remainer you will be upset with Labour because they did such a lousy job in stopping us leaving. Corbyn could have called a GE and maybe even have won it before 31 Oct but this way we leave by default and maybe given that choice some Remainers would have wanted a Boris deal as better than no deal. If you are an ardent Brexiteer you will be laughing your socks off as Boris intentionally or unintentionally has given us what we wanted all along a no deal Brexit. If you are a moderate Brexiteer / Remainer who just wanted an end to this with some sort of a deal you will be fed up with Labour scuppering it. All this is dependent on the EU holding to their word assuming Boris doesn't get the votes.

Not necessarily, there is still the option to cancel (remain). It's an option but if Parliament goes that route I predict more fireworks than Guy Fawkes. No I think we are now in the end game and I think the EU want to finish this as well. They are banking on the threat that 31 Oct is the deadline to push the uncommitted MPs over the line.

'Jean Claude Juncker does not have legal power to rule out extension. It’s a member state decision. It’s hard to imagine 27 EU countries categorically ruling out an extension while at this summit ... before they know if one might be necessary eg to get this deal passed' It is of course possible they all will, but it's unlikely. Simply a bluff tactic to try to make sure the vote on Saturday is as objective as possible. We all know however, that it won't be. Again.
Did you know? 98.0000001% of people are morons. |

Also the UK can cancel without the EUs agreement. Junckers probably just legless.
