It’s having technology under human I don’t think it’s any accident that 50+ years ago we had a supersonic passenger jet but all we have today is a phone that spies on us. More bs! Global co-operative efforts don't take control away from nation states. All it does is encourage co-operation and co-ordination. It's like a rowing eight needing a cox to keep the boat moving in the right direction at a sustainable speed. Each oarsman still controls his oar, and some may decide to not put too much effort in, and let others do the work. Think China and India.

That you, or anyone else, doesn't like the representatives that we have chosen doesn't change the system. All it does is encourage you to try to convince enough others of your opinions, so you can get the representatives you want. The answer is always in our own hands. If you cynically perceive there is insufficient interest in achieving change, then you need to create that interest. Farage, for all his many faults, managed to galvanise action on a specific issue, which was ill-judged in my opinion, but he did demonstrate it can be done. And then your beloved and trusted system (of representatives) tried to scupper it over and over for a few years. See, you claim something but then if it succeeds, you want to dismiss it if it doesn’t fit your (and your leaders’) vision.

Was watching the deal between Finland and Britain. Wonder how that will go? Seems an interesting development. Heard recently that Finland has a decent military but didn't particularly look into it.

My ever lasting love of Joonas Kolkka and even more so Aki Riihilahti has extended to all Finns over the years!
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Putin has pushed both Finland and Sweden to seek alliance's after encroaching into their airspace and threatening them. Boris has effectively paved the way for Nato membership for both by stealth. If Putin attacks either then the UK becomes involved and ergo Nato.

Fair play to them and Sweden. Can hardly blame them for seeking assurances. Especially with the zero level of support some think countries outside of the fold should receive where needed. Here is a recent review of a speech he gave from the dissident right perspective: Watched it. Excellent commentary and analysis of this weasel. Yep, he’s a lying snake. His delusional mind is off the scale. He’s gone from a messianic complex to complete denial of being wrong or any other view, even if it’s 99% of those involved, but he’s within all the bodies and groups that matter. We pay them to use their collective judgement in what they believe is in our best interests. Farage rattled the Tories sufficiently that they selfishly put their own survival higher than what they collectively personally believed to be our best interests, incorrectly assuming that the Remain vote would win. That some then put their own jobs on the line by rebelling against the party line was something to be admired, not condemned. If you believe something to be wrong, then you must do something about it.

Both are mountains of decency, when compared to some of those you regard as heroes. Take, this one. Neema Parvini who was, I understand, dismissed from his University position, for promoting white supremacist sentiment. Who has since tried to monetise his bs by making videos, and publishing books, designed to appeal to those who share his outlook. People who self-describe as part of the "dissident right". Aka the far right. Snake oil comes in many odours, but they all stink, and the gullible still buy it. Sad, isn't it?

Never said it was luddite It's just the inevitable path of technological advancement, no matter the scenario. I can't disagree with the hypothesis that in order to be able to better harness and control AI we need to be better integrated with it, and that effectively means biological integration. Can't see a future where this doesn't happen, for so many obvious political, financial and competitively advantageous reasons. Otherwise we really will lose any chance of control as things develop further beyond our ability to understand what exactly it is we're creating. Happens now FFS. Data Science the prime example – data scientists are the new snake oil salesmen (not all, but most). Sell their services as though they know what they're doing but in reality they're feeding data into a black box that spits out models that they can sell... but they have absolutely no idea what has happened inside the box to create the output. In the simplest terms, it's a guessing game. No one really knows how these systems work... and this is the equivalent of gestation phase AI. Think about that for a second... Anyway I DIGRESS
Did you know? 98.0000001% of people are morons. |
