How many times do we have to say the same thing. As soon as CB plays in a team with a half decent service, he scores.

Nope don’t by into that anymore... The guy is shot to pieces... He hides in games... Alan Shearer has raised it a few times on MOTD and it’s true... He hides behind defenders and just goes through the motions... He’s finished.

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

You're entitled to your opinion. As we all are.

Strikers are all about confidence - at least he is now scoring now which should give him a boost. His second goal was well taken though the first was one of those scramble efforts that some how end up in the back of the net.

You're forgetting the other variable which has changed - with Belgium he's been playing against San Marino and Cyprus.

Hodgson is a solid coach and players like Mcarthur, Tomkins and Schlupp suit him all day long.
He’s also usually a pragmatist so I am surprised at his reluctance to play at least some of the time in a way that suits Benteke.
Benteke looked good in the away game at Arsenal last season when we played early and direct and got Zaha playing close to him.
I don’t think Hodgson has tried this system since that game.
If Benteke played at Burnley I’m convinced he’d get 15 goals as their game is all about getting early crosses from both flanks for Wood and Barnes to attack.
Not sophisticated, I grant you, but surely management is about using the resources available to you in the most effective way.
We’re clearly not doing that with Benteke.

This is the nub of the matter.
We slag off Sorloth, Benteke, sometimes Ayew but if they don't get the ball to run onto (or head) they won't score.

Our current 'hold the fort' midfield guarantees a shortage of goals (and doesn't guarantee it is fit for RH's purpose) Even worse, every team knows how we play.

Unless we are more adventurous and use our skilful players in Meyer & McCarthy nothing will change (except our negative goal difference)

I would agree with this the Burnley style would suit Benteke down to the ground. I watched him playing for Belgium and despite the perceived quality of the opposition he played well worked hard and scored. They did not play like Burnley. I would like to see him playing in the side now to make a final judgement. I am sure he will contribute. After all everyone was deriding Ayew before he started scoring a few and now some think he is the bees knees.

Obviously playing to his strengths would help, but let’s have it right, in the last 2 years , if he goes through one on one he hits it at the keeper and we have all seen him put loads of simple headers over the bar from the edge of the 6 yard box. A fit Andy Carroll at Burnley or a younger Peter Crouch I can understand, but would he start at Burnley in front of there front 2?
They bullied West Ham’s defence the other day, last time I saw Benteke really out muscle a defender, it was Scott Dann and Benteke had a Villa kit on .

the last season he was a regular starter: 31 PL appearances, 3 goals and a whopping 20 big chances missed. Thats where it went wrong and is has little to do with lack of supply.

Yeah, but you can't really always look at it like that. Otherwise that means that Hazard must be really bad, as he didn't score at all. Or Benteke is as good as De Bryne, as he also only scored two. Both of which we know aren't true.

We're not playing the sort of football that gets the best out of a striker like Benteke. That's the bottom line for me. It's not hard to see.
