There is a murderer out there but it isn’t Eric Cantona. Well done Sherlock. But you have to ask yourself would the bus have been attacked were it not for the hatred engendered through the actions of Cantona and Matthew Simmons.

It makes my blood boil when I think about what happened, the response of the Moan U fans and that idiots like you don't even understand the causality. What is more it created long term bad blood that many of us have also suffered from. The Utd fans became even more horrible. How come you don't know this? Some thuggish Manchester United fans attacked some Palace fans three months after Cantona had disgraced himself at Selhurst Park and those two actions were not related apart from in the minds of people looking to make it so. If I may quote from articles like IB Times [Link] "Nixon's death was a separate tragedy. To suggest Cantona's kick led to it does not border on the ludicrous, it comfortably surpasses that line. But given how those events ignited nasty discord between two sets of supporters, sections from the Crystal Palace contingent inevitably associate one of the Premier League's watershed moment with the death of one of their own." and "The Cantona incident and the press coverage it received makes Palace fans uneasy, to be honest, mostly because what followed," Matt Woosnam, online editor of fanzine Five Year Plan, told IBTimes UK. "I don't think Cantona's kick led directly to the death of Paul Nixon but when Cantona comes up, inevitably people think of it, because of the relationship there, because of the harsh memories"

If we’re talking about things that inadvertently led to that tragedy happening, you might as well blame Chris Armstrong for his quarter final goals.

Anyone who uses incidents like this as an excuse to commit barbaric acts will just as easily use another. Maybe it would not have been a palace fan who suffered but still.

If you lived through it, as did most of us, we all know that tensions rose to extraordinary levels between the fans. And it was bad at the FA cup final, especially the replay. Were you around at that time? If so I guess you were under a rock.

That doesn't mean it isn't linked in this case. The fact is that United fans felt he was their hero. He showed no remorse and their club as a whole embraced tried to play the victim, which stokes up the feelings of the scumbags who ultimately killed Nixon. It's not the only reason, and it's not a direct response, but it did increase the tension and animosity between the two clubs.

Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time. |

Nixon's death was 5 years after the FA cup final replay, or do you mean this were bad enough BEFORE Cantona?
