Don Rogers & Peter Taylor - neither at the club that long, but quickly cemented their place in Palace history by being exciting players who could do the unexpected and take on opposing defenders Bill Glazier - a great keeper whom I admired as I was a budding young custodian of the sticks at that time John Jackson - another great keeper and personal role-model Cliff Holton - powerful goal scoring center-forward John Sewell - not a great player but an honest loyal Palace stalwart ( he also gave me his autograph when he was a fellow spectator at a Chelsea match) Dave Swindlehurst - not a naturally gifted player but worked at his game until he became a formidable attacking force I am sure Wrighty and Brighty would be in my list but at their peak I was living some distance from Selhurst and had just started a family so rarely got to see Palace play.

Unlikely choice, perhaps, but mine was always Nigel Martyn. One of the reasons the club enjoyed happy days at the start of the nineties. Great keeper top bloke.

Ian Wright, AJ. Oh and Zaha ranks up one one of the best wingers to put on a Palace shirt. I am young so don't criticise, i'm not gunna put players down that I didnt even watch play on tv or a football game

Mark Bright for me. Wrote to him when I was a nipper asking for an autograph. Got a signed photo back from him and a full A4 hand written letter on Palace headed notepaper. Top bloke and player and will always be my Palace hero.

Don Rogers for pure skill in my time and Johnny Byrne for my Dad.
A stockbroker urged me to buy a stock that would triple its value every year. I told him, at my age, I don't even buy green bananas! |
