Green Party MP Adrian Ramsay is resisting plans for new pylons in his East Anglian constituency of Waveney Valley, which would transport electricity from offshore windfarms to homes onshore, despite his party calling for the most ambitious decarbonisation targets.

Yup that didn't take long and so predictable of the Greens. If you want green energy then the National grid will have to connect to it somehow.

If I was the Tories I would have a word with their building mates and get them to propose large scale housing in the constituencies of the Labour cabinet. Let's see how many are in favour.

I’m not suggesting it would, but it’s an example of the contradiction I described.

We had this exchange the other day - I don’t disagree with you but the things you propose don’t move the dial for decades - something has to give before then and the options are to bring in more taxpayers or for the existing population to pay more tax.

A poor example.

Collecting tax that should already be being paid and stopping sponging immigrants coming here and claiming benefit would be much better ideas. Punishing honest working people is not the way.

In order for this problem to be solved in the future, we must start now with a drive to have more kids. It will take a generation.

I will say though that hmg should reward for more kids but tbh we all moan about baby machines knocking them out regularly. I am as guilty as the next them/they/man/woman. Want to be PC and all that but we really do tbh.

It’s clearly not a poor example as you continue to use language like the above to describe taxation.

It’s fantasy land to think we get out of this economic predicament without a higher tax burden.

Tax won't do jack for that.

It is a question of priorities.

The pill was a large factor in the problems we now face. As soon as we could control birth rates artificially, it allowed women to become the victims of their own new found freedoms. Rather than be tied to the kitchen sink, they are now tied to the workplace. This means that mortgages could go up, and lifestyle expectations rose, but also got a lot more expensive.
Having several children became less desirable.

The average woman only has to have 2.5 kids and things can turn around. The way things are going, it will be soon be less than 1.

Interesting to see that a purge of the lefties - 7 MPs including Sultana, McDonnell and Long-Bailey - has begun. All are now sitting alongside their pro-Palastinian chums as 'Independents'.

Mystic Badge here.

Yesterday on the GE thread I predicted a rebellion I didn't mean straight away. Of course the back benchers can rebel knowing that the government can still pass it's legislation, the same holds true for the PM.

Starmer can show he is strong by suspending the whip but would he have done the same if he had a wafer thin majority? I think not.

Poor old Starmer even when he does the right thing he is wrong.

Looks like Labour's solution to the migrant crisis is to let them all stay.
You might as well add ten times the amount in the next couple of years if that is the case.

Stand by for more crime, less available houses, more misogyny and a higher risk of terrorism.

But at least the trains will run on time.
