With the utmost respect we will have to agree to disagree. Apropos the Argentinian referee, there is an official exchange between UEFA and the South American CONMEBOL regarding major competitions. Edited by Willo (24 Jun 2024 10.37am) Thank you. I didn't realise it was for major comps, i knew it applied for domestic leagues. Keep well & not too many late night sojourn's. As an aside & nothing to do with our chat Willo, England are saved, Shaw is back training. Edited by eagleman13 (24 Jun 2024 10.50am)

With respect, i disagree with you, it was a pen. More importantly, what was an Argentinian ref doing at the EURO's? Some sort of FIFA exchange programme going on . Thought he was rubbish , yellow cards for nothing challenges that were not even fouls . Im no fan of it but as far as I could see VAR didn't even look at the pen .The player did sort of throw his leg out a bit weird to make sure there was contact ,I wouldn't have been happy to have it given against us .Maybe a 50/50

Had he exercised better control, he could have had a shot on target or got actually fouled in the attempt. Penalty, one-up and the oppo down to 10 men. As Scotland found to their cost, you can pass a ball around till doomsday, but you ain't going to win a match unless you have shots on target.

What do we think of the VAR? A lot quicker and accurate, much better than our long drawn-out and often wrong theatrics. The referees? No complants either, efficient competent officials. There will always be the occasional beef, it's part of the game.

I also like the 'semi-automated' offside, so much quicker & no arguments, i also like the fact that only one nominated player is allowed to talk to the ref, ala Kasper Schmeichel, although the captain of Denmark, got cautioned as he wasn't the nominated player. Would love to see this implemented in the EPL.

Interestingly, the only game I have watched where there was a long delayed involved an English ref ( Taylor) and an English VAR adjudicator ( Attwell). Read into that what you will.

The PL have voted for it and it is hoped that it will be introduced before Christmas but it's not ready for the start of the season.

This is a very disturbing development as far as you are concerned.

Looks like gallagher is starting instead of Trent tomorrow Not sure it solves any of our issues as he doesnt usually play in a 2 and still doesnt really help us keep the ball

From the outside, Gallagher's limitations are clear.

Its just so obvious - first sub he made in both games Not sure when people are going to realise Rice isnt a 4 on his own. I like gallagher but not sure he will work in a 2 from the start
