"You look at it from our perspective and ask, what more can we do?"

If ever a quote summed someone up. He plays the same team with the same tactics literally every week and doesn't think he can do anymore.

Saw the article and this was the quote I was about to pick on.

It’s almost as if buying players for the first team and managing them to compete in a football match is some sort of ludicrous fantasy fans have.

I don’t see the point in him being here anymore beyond literally nobody else being willing to take the job. I fear Parish’s golden boy status has run its course too.

I mean this sincerely in that I’ve always been proud of ours fans. We’re a realistic and close bunch plus I think we played a huge role in attaining a status for Palace as a PL club. We’ve put up with a lot over the years but nothing more than what we were braced for.

I’ve literally never known the atmosphere to be so toxic/tense. You feel something will give soon, whether that be a completely unexpected turn in form, us actually spending money this January, Roy getting sacked, a serious incident of fans ‘kicking off’ or our relegation. Could be any number or combination of those actually…

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

The commentators on Talk Sport said one of their producers a Palace fan, had messaged from the office saying "we were hopeless in defence, toothless in attack and looked like a Sunday league pub side".
I was listening with a 'gooner'pal, who sadly is in a care home having suffered a stroke last year. It cheered him up enormously, but I was so depressed (if not in the least bit surprised), that I was tempted to ask if they had a spare bed!
I'm not sure whether the outcome would have been any different with a full strength team as we seem to have lost the ability to defend at all. Playing a high line when 3-0 down made no sense and, I've said on here before that I am mystified how Guehi is considered an England player when he cannot defend corners or win headers..as with Anderson.
To my mind Roy is culpable, as he himself said post match. His decision to keep Olise on until the 89 min when 3-1 up v Brentford may not have caused, but certainly exacerbated his injury. He then says he took Eze off at Everton "to protect him".

I am respectful of Roy, but time is up I'm afraid, regardless of the circumstances and our survival chances, which with luck are still reasonable, but why wait? My guess is he may well make the decision for SP and say I'm done.

He can't even run and carry the ball 100 metres. At every home game I went to, most of the time I could see him passing the ball backwards and sideways - even on taking freekicks ? Perhaps, that was part of Roy's tactics.

We had £40m in the summer. £40m.

And we spent it on a Brazilian reserve who is nowhere near good enough and a really shaky reserve goalkeeper after letting Butland and Guaita (two better keepers) leave for free.

Whoever was making those decisions should be held accountable for us going down.

There were so many other ways we could have used £40m to strengthen and improve last year’s team.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a worse use of £40m in the transfer market, by any club, barring possibly some of Man Utd’s transfer activity.

Whoever sanctioned signing Franca and Henderson (and for that matter Holding for £4m-ish, Ahamada for £12m and Richards for £12m in the past year) - just on behalf of the fans, thank you so much for wasting funds so appallingly. Also, many thanks for not signing anyone on loan that can play on the wing last transfer window or this one. Great work. Even just signing free transfers would have been better than the really poor players you have signed.

As for Parish magnanimously only taking out a bonus of £2.5m for himself in December… judging by the transfers he’s ok’d in the last year and a half, you’ve got to wonder how paying himself that bonus can be justified. That £2.5m might just come in handy when we’re in the Championship saddled with players on huge wages next season.

I feel really genuinely sorry for and sad for Roy. He has been royally shafted by the clowns signing players. If this is the end, I’m sorry it ended this way and a heartfelt thank you for keeping us up several times.

Board and the shameful transfers team - wake up. It isn’t too late to keep us up. Sign some good young players on loan that can play on the wing to cover for Olise and Ayew when they’re injured or off.

If you don’t, as a fan, I have to ask - what are you actually doing?

I think most can agree that we are in serious trouble and the manager has virtually admitted there is nothing more he can do.

Given this Mr Parish surely must now take immediate steps to save us from relegation by appointing a replacement before the next match. Time is of the essence.

Who he can persuade to take over is open to conjecture and any potential manager must have viewed this match with reservation UNLESS he is confident he can motivate our players and is given a free hand to act.

The next game is in ten days coinciding with the end of the transfer window. It is a crucial time that must not be wasted.

What I was seeing today was a Championship level team at best. With a few exceptions the talent to compete at this level just isn’t there, and I’m sure Roy knows it.

Agree with all of this. Right on the money.......or off it as the case may be. The reason I highlighted the Man U bit is just to say as percentages of total spend, ours is way worse.

This is correct the players Roy has available for selection would struggle to grace the championship and that is not Roy fault, he has said on many occasion what he wants but he get what Parish wants, which is a bargain base players either unproven at EPL level or throwaways from clubs because they are not good enough anymore for EPL football or they have a sick note. The buck stops with Parish he is getting what he deserves and sadly we the fans have to put up with as it’s unlikely to change with the disquiet that currently exists at board level

You cannot blame the workman if you do not provide the tools.

It would appear that RH has little or no input on signings.
He has to work with what he is given.
Which apart from Guehi, Andersen, Olise and Eze falls short of
what is necessary

The major problem is the reliance on Mateta and Edourd to score
goals. Mateta ,especially,is woefully inadequate.

If the club is relegated then the fault lies with the Board
and Freedman not RH

I suspect Roy will get the sack, but I think the fault rests the board.

Even this transfer window, they appear to be doing nothing of any urgency.

I can see us getting no players in, sacking the one manager who may be able to keep us up with the crap squad we have and us going down with a manager who tries bloodying the young players and we find out how inadequate they are.

In December 2022 we had Edouard, Benteke, Mateta and possibly Zaha and Ayew as forwards and makeshift forwards. Benteke and Zaha have never been replaced and Ayew is currently not available. How can the board can be so incompetent.

So many people on here believe Parish can do no wrong, but I put far more blame on him than I do Roy for the mess we are in. He's responsible for the ownership shambles we have and 4 transfer windows on the trot have been inadequate.

Roy has been hung out to dry whilst SP and the board just keep making the same mistakes over and over again.

Looked like it might get fractious between players and support at the end. Andersen seemed to be ready for an argument. Lerma put an end to it by coming over just clapping and being defiant. No sign of Roy. Seems to me mccarthy would be an improvement to give us a lift for the coming second half of the season. Players lack confidence in possession. Zero movement off the ball. And can’t seem to defend any more. Parish surely must be weighing options urgently. Hope none of our “better” players are sold this window or we really will be in trouble.
