I doubt O'Brien was already twenty. Maybe he was - I haven't looked. Jake O'Brien was 19 when we signed him on Loan and was 20 when we signed him on a permanent deal.

I knew about the Munoz rumour, but, didn't know about Adam Wharton of Blackburn . . . [Link]
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

Blackburn seem well rooted in midtable so they might be open to a deal for Wharton, especially if their financial issues are true. The lad has been receiving a lot of plaudits and seems a real talent and would be an upgrade on Hughes, I think.

He's 19 Roy will give him 10 mins when we're 3-0 down and then blame him for the loss

I’ve been paying particular attention to Blackburn since the rumours linking us to him surfaced a few months ago. In a team based around keeping the ball he’d be ace - kinda like a lanky Jack Wilshire.

I have no idea why Roy even comments on anything recruitment wise.

Sounds like one of those where his club will squeeze everything they can out of the deal . If it happens will likely go to the wire

I understand Dougie is a Palace legend, but there comes a stage when the inability to sign people to enhance our team has an enormously detrimental impact on the club itself. If we go down, which I think there is a very, very real chance of us doing, I personally will see that as the fault of Dougie Freedman and his team. Every day that goes past that he misses another good loan or free signing that could have done a job for us (Ben Brereton Diaz, Fabio Carvalho, Ross Barkley, even old Andros, Ashley Young, Asmir Begovic (would've been preferable to wasting half the budget on Henderson), James Milner, Manuel Lanzini, the list goes on), coupled with the fact that the club haven't used either loan slot, or seemingly tried to sign anyone performing really well in the Championship - you have to wonder what he is actually looking at and what he's actually doing. I would rather see the fan's frustration aimed at him and his team, who have royally, royally shafted the club by doing such a substandard job of adequately manning the squad. The reality is everyone is desperate not to criticise Dougie as he was a good striker for us. Let's call it what it is though - the last three transfer windows (this one included), apart from signing Jefferson Lerma, have been an unmitigated disaster and that is why we are where we are. Do I think Mourinho would be doing a better job with the players available and fit currently? I do not.
A large % of scouting is done using software so people like to throw out the FM like it's a funny joke but the data used in that game does tend to come from legit sources. You have no clue what DF does or really his full role also he may well be coming up with lots of positives but if SP says no that is it. How do you know if any of those players you listed would even want to come to the club you don't and again $$$$

I hope that the next week sees some pragmatic transfers that can fill gaps in the team/squad for the rest of the season and beyond. Let us all pray that the scouts, Dougie and all involved have an superb, turbo-charged week and we sign sensibly and end up staying up. My frustration (and I can't imagine I am alone) is that whoever is involved in transfers (whether scouts, DF or those above) has put us in a position where we're having to wait for rabbits to be pulled out of hats in the last week of January in order to give us the ammunition to stay up. Hope you're having a good day wherever you are, and up the Palace
