I think the main frustration is that the spine of this team is excellent. Johnstone (possible Henderson), Andersen, Guehi, Lerma, Doucoure, Eze and Olise are as good as anyone outside the big 6/7.

You just feel with a few more resources we really could push on with another 3 or so good players to challenging for Europe providing everything went well.

However, it looks like we don't have the finances to do that. It's the safe thing to not risk everything. To try and stay in 12th-15th place with just enough.

Eventually we will end up selling our best players as they go to play for a bigger more ambitious team. The question will be whether we can purchase players who will be as good? At some stage it will go wrong and we will go down.

When we are relegated, I wonder if we will look back at say 'Well that's (say) 14 years in the top flight and we never finished above 10th and one FA Cup final defeat. Will we have wished we had tried to push on from where we are now? I don't know the answer. I do know that I feel gutted that after we sold Ian Wright and that side was gradually picked apart.

However, if our total spend ends up being £40 million on a goalkeeper and a untested 19 year Brazilian, you do wonder why that wasn't spent on a left winger, striker or full back. I can see why so many people's glasses are half empty.

I agree with everything you say apart from the financially risking everything. Look at the assets we hold, one of the best young players in the world, 2 young prem proven England internationals which adds a stupid amount to their value. Docoure who's already valued at 70 Mill and Andersen who's proven and been linked with top clubs.

If we were relegated this season, would we go into administration, no we could sell 4 out of 5 which would bring in a crazy amount of money, slash our wage bill, along with parachute payments. We would be fine.

It's why the rich take loans out against their assets. They know their assets will increase more than the interest on the loan. The collective value of these 5 players will only increase this season.

Even in the championship we were the same we were lucky we went up with that squad that we had. Luckily we had freedman and his great in ability to work with nothing and even he got pi***d off with parish and buggered off. I suppose you’re gonna throw in don’t u remeber he saved us cr** and that I’m self entitle etc. Just look at every team that has come up smaller than us.If you can’t see that a lot of the clubs have been in Europe and done things other than barely make any league progress than you’re deluded.

Sky praising Brighton for being the most progressive club in the league and being able to attract major talents like Ansu Fati, whom it looks like is about to join the club.

Their year on year rise whilst we remain static is putting it politely, annoying to say the least. I don’t want to hear any more about their debt likely to cause them trouble because I don’t think they are thinking that way or are in the least bit worried about it. We just seem to be happy to use our debt as justification for our mediocrity. If that is the case and everyone is happy with mediocrity then so be it.

All I know is that we don’t have much chance of attracting players such as these.

People are so dumb on here they think if we're relegated our wage bill will remain the same and we will be in administration in 2 years

We know exactly what will happen if Mitchell gets injured, ward will go to lb and Clyne will go to rb, so we will have 2 poor full backs and then as cover, players who will be playing out of position. Its so plainly obvious where we need to strengthen. If we want to talk about other clubs. Everton have a problem scoring goals, oh look they've just spent 25 mill on a striker, we have a problem scoring goals, we've just spent 20 on a goalkeeper. Its baffling

2 of the 3 recognised full backs have represented England in Internationals. Do poor players get selected for England.

we could put out virtually a starting lineup of full internationals with the main area lacking being strikers, Of course, it depends how long ago and what matches they played in, Remember, Martin Kelly won a cap before his time on the bench with us

Wow, Mitchell probably got a cap when Chilwell and Shaw were injured and trippier probably started anyway, and the other was 10 years ago, let's try sign Ashley Cole, his got a few caps.

If we are judging players on England caps let's sign calvert Lewis.

Regardless, they are Internationals, so not poor players as you insist on telling everyone.

I know no offence is inteded and apologies if it sounds stroppy just very frustrating the way the club is run. We’re miles behind clubs like Brentford Brighton Fulham etc. We have very little squad depth. We only appear to be getting a GK and possibly 1 striker and that might not even happen which will be even worse. We need at least 4 players id say RB, winger, and striker are the most important additions we need. Anyone who criticises parish is slated which tbh the bloke deserves to be slated he is holding the club back massively despite what he has done in the past

So are you suggesting that as soon as you represent England once you then remain a good player got the rest of your career and can never be considered poor?

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

Maguire and Henderson in the latest squad screams yes.

Mitchell has actually been poor for Palace since he was called up by England. His form was good enough for that call up, but he’s been awful since then. I personally feel as though the club needs to sign a player that fights for that LB position on a regular basis, rather than rely on players who can cover if need be. I think that would help Mitchell and his poor form…because he doesn’t seem to concentrate, and there is nothing better to concentrate the mind than a bit of competition.
