Edited by dreamwaverider (17 Mar 2023 3.24am) I totally agree. Worth noting that top managers keep themselves in shape. I'm currently reading a psychology book that mentions how the subconscious picks up on things, and there does seem to be a correlation with this team's lack of running and the shape of the management team.

Can’t help feeling our results have fallen off a cliff since the World Cup and Shaun Derrys departure. That old chestnut “ great players don’t make great managers, is so coming true for us”

Scott Parker has just become unemployed too Originally posted by fish mitten
I think a lot of fans are deluded if they think we’ll get a quality manager in now. It’s a mercenary like Sam Allardyce on a short term contract for a vast sum of money, or a out of work manager. Welcome on board Frank or Stevie G.

I believe that Vieira will go after our inevitable defeat at Arsenal but I don’t think whoever replaces him will be able to save us. We have a run of games coming up against teams below us and they all have far more belief and determination than we do. I wouldn’t even be surprised if we finish bottom of the league come the end of the season. You say that, but from us down the combined wins of the 9 teams are just 11 over the last five games and some of those wins were against each other. That's only just over one win per team. Leicester and Forest are below us in the form guide. We are not in a great position, but neither are a lot of teams many of which (especially Leicester and West Ham) are probably scratching their heads and saying "Surely our squad are better than this?" Are Moyes and Rodgers suddenly terrible managers? I am less confident in Vieira than I was a month ago, but for me it isn't like the Pardew situation, for example, where it was obvious he was clueless.

That old chestnut “ great players don’t make great managers, is so coming true for us” Shaun Derry I have allegedly heard got the push because he upset some players, probably by telling them a few home truths and they went crying to PV. Our form appears to have dipped since then. If we go down then maybe a 40% pay cut might bring it home that telling tales can be very expensive.

Perhaps in these modern times footballers who are upset at how they are treated or if they are spoken to harshly go to HR to complain ?

Did he jump or was he pushed ? Well now he's gone it'll be interesting to see who's considered a genuine replacement or, the Palace way of finding someone with previous club history.

Gone, and before the Arsenal game. Player power, a bunch of lazy cnuts who let him down big time. Although he had his failings, the calibre of player he had to deal with falls well short of a professional outfit. I really do hope that the whoever takes the post sorts the wheat from the chaff.

Or you could argue if that’s the case - he should have been able to put his boot up a few backsides. Always struck me he wanted to be liked, rather than a boss and some of the selections were baffling.

In the football world it's always the manager who takes the hit, these players need to take a long hard look at themselves. Do they really give a s*** as long as the bank balance keeps ticking over? There's a few frauds in this team.

Agree with you there South i still don't reckon he was the problem okay i didn't like the softly softly approach , I think it was down to Parrish and his failure to get in decent striker and Gallagher back . Will be interesting to see who comes in now . Be careful what you wish for guys. Also i don't think it was Steve's decision it was prob down to Texter and the other yanks .
