I watched through the game again and the positive is that we were no worse than recent performances - crap, but no worse. Obviously, Guaita had a good game. Mitchell was terrible. Midfield non existent, a couple of presses but no accuracy or thought or movement in attack.
Overall kind of a four out of ten, lucky that Brighton were only a five at best.

Now that takes some fortitude. Did you pull out the whip and self flagellate at the same time?

I do understand those doubting or starting to doubt Vieira.

It's a results business, and they haven't been good enough recently.

However, I've referred to it before, but our current situation is much the same as Potter's second season at Brighton. And they were struggling near the bottom, not halfway up the table. A lot of their fans wanted him sacked - didn't agree with his team selections, tactics etc etc. At the end of that season it would have been a relatively easy decision to sack him. They didn't, instead they backed him and we all know what happened next.

So if the club keep faith with PV, and I hope they do, I;d like to see him receive more backing in the summer.

I think there are a number of disconnects running throughout Palace at the moment. And they start at the top.

My recollection of Brighton back then was they had a lot of possession and made chances but lacked finishing ability and made errors. So they lost points but you could see a game plan, kind of how we were last season.

I don't really know what we are working towards. We don't counter. We don't press. We don't control possession. We certainly don't battle and scrap. We aren't the type to go direct either. I genuinely don't know what our fundamental principles are anymore.

Just listened to PV's presser before posting. He's Really Happy, and we were well organised, so don't expect any thing different soon.
All I can say is the game must have looked different from the other side of the pitch.
The issue with certain players has been well covered but is Doucoure starting to flatter to deceive. I say that leaving aside he gifted the disallowed goal.

If so that is a pity as I was going to say he looked like the one positive signing this season. To early to say about the 2 January signings in midfield. Unfortunately we haven't been active enough in the transfer windows this season.

Currently we're a wishy washy nothing sort of a team losing any identity we may have had. A club that is more than happy to pay lazy players to do the bare minimum, a lazy players dream. I can imagine the agent selling the club to the player - "fantastic club with state of the art academy facilities, higher end earning spectrum, no need to work, the manager is a soft touch and you won't get told off by that nasty Mr Derry"...

It's not as bad second time - as you know what to expect!

In seriousness, the Brighton good chances looked like half chances today and it looks like we made two half chances by pressing - which looked better on the replays rather than in real time. Mateta might have even scored without a block from Webster (I think it was Webster). In the game looked like we were going nowhere.
However, Brighton still had two or three chances to score relatively easy goals. They should have scored two at least - with the VAR did not look offside to me.

The "Cause for concern" goes beyond attaining a point against a team above us in the table.

The fact remains that we beat Bournemouth, a team below is in the table, who had lost 2 of their previous 3 Home games and 1 was against struggling Southampton.

That's the point. Beat teams below try and scrape something from them above. That's safe mid table.

If you're saying our play is poor and dull and we rode our luck that is another matter.

Btw drew at home to man utd and earned it with a wonder goal. Leeds just lost 2 - 0 to the same team. Which would you rather?

Leeds pressed high and showed real verve and energy. They were far more entertaining to watch than we were yesterday.
What Leeds lacked was that bit of quality and 'Cutting edge' in the final third.

Yet 0 points and minus 2 goals.

We spent way less than every other team but still we look relatively safe.

PS I know we were crap and it's particularly difficult to watch us being toyed with by that team. But would you really swap with Leeds?
