Why bother with AWB? We have Ward and Clyde and both are better!

AWB kept Ward out of the team and Ward kept Clyne out of the team and the only one of the three the right side of the peak of their career is AWB so I'm not sure I'd agree. I know which one I'd be playing away at City and it's not one of the two we own! I think the biggest downside of AWB is whether now is the right time to spend the money at RB vs using it elsewhere.

United is a bit of a graveyard at the moment, they seem to have a nack of ruining good players, let’s hope if we do get AWB back he’s the same player

Both have no pace. The modern game you need pace in that position the player is expected to cover the whole wing even create chances. AWB has a lot of room to grow and many years left in him. This is what we was expecting from Ferguson but now have seen we wont be able to and if he could Ward and Clyne come end of season will be gone if we had AWB/Ferg. Clynes injury record is not great either. I would only consider AWB if it was a very good deal or say a loan with transfer fee at the end if we choose. (Never pay near what United did that was insane)

For me an incoming AWB would surely be for the starting XI and at a reasonable price I'd understand that. He is still young, has had a torrid experience at Man U and I'd welcome him back home with open arms. I think AWB/Olise would work well down right, AWB may not intend on being a 'flying Wing Back' and Olise doesn't strike me as having ambitions to do too much tracking back and defending. I'd then envisage Clyne serving as a back up to him and even cover for Mitchell if necessary. Nat has far surpassed my expectations upon his return and think he can still do a good job there when called upon and at LB too. Might of lost a yard of pace but he's hardly on Wayne Hennessey levels of slow. I'd then imagine Ward would get some well deserved rest and again provide as cover, should it be necessary, across the back 4. He also holds a lot of experience and (I imagine) will be a good influence on the younger lads. If this happens to be the case and PV's thinking I would not be inclined to disagree with that at all.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

I think it really depends upon the team we are against. AWB can take a speedy winger out of the equation. Performed brilliantly when he was on against Sterling. However, he's another defender that lacks height and the ability to head the ball, which means we would be further disadvantaged on corners, which appears to be our primary weakness right now. Ward is far superior in that category (Clyne is probably marginally better than AWB). Personally I'm okay with a relatively inexpensive purchase of him, but I think maybe trying Richards out there may be a better course of action right now.
