I try to avoid threads like this as my opinions are very strong

All I can say is , it’s a cult and fully woke and agenda started by the extreme left and will only get worse as our governments seem to condone it

And the next Government seem to positively encourage it

ESG. Three letters which explain at least a semblance of rationality behind this company doing crap like this. Once you understand what they mean, and their impact on corporate culture, then things become a little clearer.

Dont mean to play it all mysterious but it is worth delving a little deeper into the impact the concept has had and the extent to which it has played its part in much of this progressive lunancy.

You have to wonder who at Hershey's in any way thought this was a good idea.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

Somebody did, and they may well be right.

The company would have known there would be a backlash, which would generate calls for bans etc. Bans which might, temporarily, damage sales a little.

It also though generates a great deal of publicity and attention. That someone could easily have calculated a net gain in sales volume will result. Let's see.

Since they've just alienated almost their entire customer base an increase in sales is unlikely.

They won't though have alienated almost their entire customer base. Many will be completely unaware of the story. Others will threaten to stop buying, but won't. Habits and preferences die hard. Those who do change don't often sustain it. Memories are short. Meanwhile, there is a group, quite significant in size, who will strongly approve. No publicity is bad publicity is close to the thinking of many a marketeer.

There are many examples of bad publicity as those responsible for Jimmy Savile's PR would testify.
