Deeply ironic.

Perhaps in respect to the BBC....I'll give you that.

However, that is public subscription with enforcement so it's a bit difference.....as if I stop paying I get threatening letters and a knock at the door.

So forgive me if I focus on it.

Whereas that's not a factor with GB News.

I mean the BBC was the steer of my comment and I have to say I expected that reply. It’s not a mandatory service though is it, obviously if your not using the service there is no need to pay for it. With that being said, I understand it’s not an exact comparison. I have however seen entire threads on this forum before started from posters sharing links to Pink News etc.

If there’s one thing the HOL loves, it’s engaging with media that makes us rage.

It's a reasonable reply.

What I would say is that the BBC don't really play fair on what I've highlighted as it isn't just a matter of no longer using their service.

The reality is that if you refuse the BBC licence you aren't allowed to watch any 'live broadcasting'.....and that's independent of the BBC channel.

So they effectively ban you from any mainstream channel.....the skys, ITV and so on.

It's actually outrageous.....If it were indeed how you describe I'm sure many of us would feel far less annoyed about the whole thing.

It's really unethical, corporational and governmentally allowed practice.

I am more than content to admit that I watch 'GB News' each and every day.

The TV licence is required to watch any live TV, not limited to the BBC, under threat of prison.

It's not just a case of turning over from champagne socialist Lineker to watch Ian Wright.

Only the BBC get the income.

Good to see the rate at which licences are being cancelled or not renewed.

The licence generates some £3 billion annually so that, for example, news readers can be paid in excess of 400K per year.

This is a topic guaranteed to make a lot of people very annoyed.

While Wright is better, I'm not much of a fan of his politics either.....oh those heady days when you didn't know a presenter's politics.

We obviously agree on the current unfair situation of TV licensing.

The sooner a solution is found that doesn't make a criminal of consumer media choices the better.

Yes, I was using Wright as an example of choice during Euros only.

I must be missing a point, to me it's not funny to take the piss out of people's names. Whatever

You'll just have to forgive my occasional amuseos.

I tend to find humour in most things....light and not so light.

It isn't intended seriously.

I liked the idea that the channel might be the ultimate free speech platform. Isn't that the point of countering platforms that are clearly not? One person saying that taking the knee is a load of sh!te, while another one is actually doing it. Only apparently not. Yawn. Just another comfortable blanket for people unable to take on board others views then really. It's more of a commentary on the populous than the platform that the thin skinned are passing out at the idea of contrasting views.

Oh for the days where conversation counted and it wasn't all about aligning with a channel or criteria -> [Link]
