It's something for nothing. The society we've created. If they didnt like what they got then give it back. Mass rollout of anything has teething problems as the last year has proved. These people couldnt wait to post pictures and bite the hand that's feeding them. Kin t***s How about we bring back the poorhouse?

Accountability is good for people. I believe that unless you are Dr certified as incapable of work there should be no free benefits. If you want your rent paying and a free hand out each week then you should do something for it, whether that be working in a charity shop, sweeping the streets, helping kids across the road. There are many areas of society that could benefit from people getting off their lazy asses.

Completely agree, and the irony is that not only would society benefit, but so would the recipient, who has then felt they have worked for their money. These payments are called benefits, Not entitlements.

Tom I have absolutely no issue with anyone who needs help. Blimey I buy the big issue guy a coffee or a sandwich whenever I am outside a shop.

If the government really want to help they should strike a deal with every supermarket in the country. They should have an aisle or an area set aside where all foods with 1 day left on the best before day can be taken and given away. The issue here is one of making sure those in real need get the food and not just those tight wads who want to save a few quid. Maybe they can issue a government food bank card or similar. This is no real issue for supermarkets as this food would be thrown away in any event after a couple more days. Less waste all round, What you don’t want to do however is make life too easy for people so that they don’t feel any need to work. Difficult balancing act but probably achievable given the will for it to succeed.
