I'm not even saying go for crazy expensive players, e.g. +25M. We got burnt with that. But SP probably thinks RH can succeed again with a weakened side. I'm not sure this year we'll be able to bring in loanees of RLC and TFM's quality and we'll revert to young deadwood like Bamford or Sanogo.

I reckon we'll struggle through to January and then stretch the finances for a couple more panic buys where we pay excessive prices and stupid wages. Hopefully our luxurious new STAND can come in and play in the No. 10 role or replace Luka when's he's injured or suspended. The stand can even be named after itself as recognition for its on-pitch performance.

That was said last season and the season before that and look where we finished. Every club around us can spend as much money as they like but heavy spending doesn’t always mean success. How many times do people wheel out the 'Standing Still is going backwards' cliche? surely SP understands this?

Ok I’ve read on the BBS, where some do dissect things quite thoroughly, that we’re not in danger of breaking STCC or FFP rules unless we spend big, which we can’t because of cash reasons which will include instalment payments for Sakho et al. But we also can’t spend big because we’re living beyond our means (including future amortisation figures). So it’s either keep spending this summer to a minimum with cheaper transfers or cheaper (in the short term) loans, and/or get through it and sell Wilf next season. OR we sell players now, such as the derisory offers from Everton for Wilf or from Leicester for Townsend. It’s a pity Benteke has been so abysmal or we could’ve sold him, bought a cheaper and more suitable styled player and used the profit from his sale to add in solving the middle of the park to see us through. LOL. Where he got that from is RH, SP and the media engine behind the club. Please cast your mind back to the schoolboy pursuit of Mamadou Sakho. Parish said 50 times in all forms of media that we cannot possibly afford Sakho. "Way too much money, not gonna happen" etc etc. Lo and behold come the end of the window, we sign Sakho in a multi million pound deal. Has it occurred to anyone here that Parish is putting a plan so intelligent and devious into place that Trump himself would be proud of it? He tried it on Liverpool with Sakho and maybe it saved him a mil or 2. So now Suave Steve thinks that if you get everyone to sing from the "we are broke" hymn sheet, even the dependable and upright RH who never lies, then all the clubs who own players we want to sign might sit up and take notice. I think Baldrick would call this a cunning plan. Simple fact is we may sign 40-50m quids worth of players at the end of this window, or none at all. You just dont know with this football club because our management of transfers is so erratic and all over the place. Don't forget that S.P's other Company is called "Smoke and Mirrors", very appropriate don't you think?

The cost of so many managerial changes is hurting us now. Each manager brings in who he wants, so obviously the squad is all over the place as Roy tries to find the perfect balance. Unfortunately, paying off holloway, warnock, newcastle, pardew, fdb wasn't cheap. Even more so trying to offload the various players that didn't fit into the new managers plans.
This summer Parish should have flat out said 'we now need to stabilize the books, it will be a tricky summer but please bare with us for an important year where unity is key'. Instead we got 'Let's do business and enjoy summer down box park lads' and snarky tweets to fans on his jet home from Russia. It's about damage control right now and less is more when it comes to public opinions. Heck, i would even respect him more if he said 'we're gunna sell Wilf if the right offer comes along, so that we can get 3-4 players in and be a great position to get to 40 points quicker than average and push on' that's the bigger picture because let's all be honest, wilf is gone next year - he is, the bloke is amazing and instead of feeling bitter, feel proud of what we nurtured and produced.
