I hate doing this. But here goes; I heard from someone tonight, who in fairness is pretty close to the club, that RLC is definitely staying at Chelsea. Read into that what you will. To be honest, I’ve never seen the plausibility of signing him on a permanent deal anyway. For him to of been available it would mean Chelsea not only being prepared to sell a young player who’s English & makes up their home grown contingency, but also that we’d be able to fund such a transfer during a time where cash is supposedly tight. Even if he was available, I worried that it actually wouldn’t be particularly smart business at all. Because he’d come at a premium that would also certainly mean we’d neglect (again) the rest of the squad for the sake of a player that we had on loan. There are different avenues in football to go down beyond having a loan first/watching them in the premier league, to scout a players suitability for our team. Especially when it comes to creative midfielders. There are clamouring hordes of them available in Europe, if we actually had any initiative we could’ve quite easily signed a couple by now, without breaking the bank. Parish needs to pull his finger out, if he pisses Roy off, you’d think the fans who’ve shown him remorse due to the upturn in fortunes last season won’t be so forgiving this time. We’re in last chance saloon to achieve some form of Premier League stability. Let’s not f*** this up now. Edited by Mstrobez (12 Jul 2018 2.15am) You may have a point. What is the purpose of a loan? If it is for emergency cover or with a view to signing permanent fair enough. Don't get me wrong I am a big fan of RLC and if we can get him great. However you are right we should not be investing too much time if it is just for another loan. We need to be looking for permanent signings. My feeling is that loans should be for gambles so just before the window closes we are offered a young player and Roy thinks why not if he fails no harm no foul.

If Chelsea get this Jorginho I think we've got a chance. We desperately need reinforcements. I'm worried at our lack of business but then again, I always am. At the same time, I much prefer seeing the youngsters come through. So here is the dilemma. Do I hate the fact we're not doing a West Ham and buying everyone under the sun (like Everton last year) or do I rejoice that another AWB is on the horizon.

Kennedy has been gone back to Newcastle on loan after a good spell there so that is a good sign that Chelsea are happy to send their players back to places they will flourish

I for one am very excited at the prospect of seeing Nya Kirby this year and am also keen to see Riedewald establish himself. Whether or not Roy fancies Riedewald is yet to be seen. But for me he is the perfect type of addition to a squad. Young enough to understand rotation but good enough to play when required. Still think he should've seen alot more game time last season. The problem comes with youngsters when you pin too much reliance on them. Which, if we're looking to integrate youth, we will be doing if we don't start signing a couple of players. The other thing I think will be very interesting this season is to see just how interested Roy is in integrating youth. Let's face it, AWB was initially a forced decision due to an injury crisis. I think it will be fascinating to see if he actually does (in my opinion) the right thing and let him be our main RB this season with Ward as back up. Or if he goes with Ward like he did towards the end of last season. Not too educated on Roy's record with youth/academy players at previous clubs, not sure if anyone has any insight on this.

RLC as a loan would be good as it’d fill a space in our first XI with quality although only for a year, it then gives us freedom to use our limited cash to replace Cabaye. On the other hand if we can sign him even at a premium it would IMO be a sound investment. As Laddo said, if Chelsea sign another midfielder we’ve a great chance. Personally believe if RLC is guaranteed first team football he’ll look to force a permanent move and we should be in pole position.

West Ham and Everton can’t and won’t do that every season. They’ve both done it due to lack of investment in a previous season(s) and no doubt eating into the following season(s) budgets. There’s some element to us having to reign it in due to the Allardyce January and wages but there is money to spend but on very critical positions. We would’ve kept Cabaye on it there wasn’t money to bring in a midfielder(s), wouldn’t we?

Think about it logically , where do you get a £30 million pound player for 2 years on a free? if we got him for another year that's what we would have got so fantastic if it happens!!

Nya Kirby. Different type of player but shows promise. I can see a three man midfield of Luca, Kirby and Macca with Andros, Wilf and Big Ben up top. Edited by kenbarr (13 Jul 2018 12.44pm)

Well, with Conte now gone, and Maurizio Sarri rumoured to be coming in, it'll be wait and see for RLC whether or not he is going to feature in future plans. Another loan season would be great if we get that lucky.
