This post has been merged from a topic called 'Wickham extends contract to 2021' by bexleydave Seems an odd decision. Protecting the re-sale value maybe? Or maybe an indication where recruitment lies this summer. Unless we come into any player sale money that is.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Wickham extends contract to 2021' by bexleydave And the Palace summer has started!!!! All we need now is a trialist from Margate that we sign on a 4 year deal and never play and a random Italian from their 4th divison who's about 36 and we're cooking with gas

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Wickham extends contract to 2021' by bexleydave I really hope he can repay the faith we have shown. I guess it makes sense to protect his value being only 26. I guess we have done this in full possession of the facts of his injury and likelihood of him regaining fitness.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Wickham extends contract to 2021' by bexleydave As soon as I was waiting for June 2020 when Wickham and Benteke's contracts are due to expire, and we'd be able to buy decent players again...

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Wickham extends contract to 2021' by bexleydave I was shocked to see this announcement, if anything I was expecting us to announce that he was leaving. The surprising aspect is that Roy has given the impression that he doesn't really rate Wickham in a few interviews I have heard but it is also a sign that we probably won't be making many signings this summer and we need to keep hold of our players particularly strikers. Surely we will get one new striker though as I don't think we can go into a new season with just Wickham and Benteke as our only options. For wickham this is a good deal as had we released him I can't imagine there would have been many takers.

Then we're sorted. Luvverly jubbly. (Still hopeful that Wickham might play 3 or 4 games in a row for us at some stage in the first team). Edited by Pigglelet (21 May 2019 10.44am)

Think that may mean Benteke or Sorloth trying to be moved on, All very similar Players, don't think we will get our 39 million back

He'll bang in a few pre-season only to trip over a pair of socks in the changing room & be out for the rest of the season (again). Wish I could pull a sicky for this long without getting the elbow
