Frank has shown a willingness to adapt during games, he just needs to get the team starting better. Puncheon was once again ineffectual and when Cabaye came on he accentuated his deficiencies. Ward actually had a reasonable game and although Townsend didn't score he did make more effort than most.

The most painfully obvious thing is that without Zaha we are a shadow of a team and so we desperately need a new forward/winger to give us an extra threat. Ayew was the type of player we could do with. Someone who is quick, strong and who will bully defenders into mistakes.

Despite being woeful we actually had far more chances than Swansea to win.

So we buy players FDB wants, then sack him. How does that work?

Think SP has two options.

1/ Keeps faith with FDB and his system and throw a load of money at the TF market and hope it works out ok.

2/insist FDB changes his formation to that which most suites our available players - and if FDB doesn't agree be prepared for him to go.

Reckon 1/ is riskiest particularly financially especially if we still ended up relegated.

Regarding 2/ SP loose face and, would mean DF taking over at least short term.

Needs to be sorted by 1st September!
