The government should do more to bring about a real push to build more houses. That benefits the people though rather than the government. There will be no push on the housing front and whatever shade of brexit we see, I doubt immigration will come down much either. Cheap labour init'.

Have you any idea how high the rate of house building would have to be to keep pace with current population increase?

It ain't gonna happen.

Would you, or your little chum, Cucking Funt like to educate me of what it is I don't understand?

I think I understand the pair of you very well.

Of course it is.

And I do have an idea as how high the rate of building would have to be to keep pace.

With the population growing at a rate of 500k per year and the average number of people per dwelling currently being 2.4 that's just over 200k new homes per year

Hardly uncontrollable. But you carry on making a fool of yourself

Those statistics included things like people's back gardens.

If you are going to criticise someone else try not to be easily risible yourself.

Not sure what point you're trying to make. But if you think someone can build in your back garden (and therefore not classed as built upon land), I'll happily take you up on the offer and build a house in your yard.

Oh yes I remember the promise of 'down to the tens of thousands'. Now who was it said that?

Well well well. Some posters might view these figures with surprise.

For nearly 15 years they should've built that many and never came close (I remember having this opinion before it was bigger news) yet you think it's going to start happening. Then there's the people who should've been housed in those years on top of the houses needed going forward. I'm afraid youre in denial my friend.

I'm with you you Simon and your golf course critique. Nail on head. There's on ejust down the river from Richmond and massive it is too. Could probably house 5,000 if built upon. Good social housing too. Would p1ss off 300 rich golfers so maybe it isn't such a good idea.

People want to live in cities on the whole. More use of brownfield sites is whats wanted rather than ruining what is left of our greenbelt.
