I just don’t get this obsession with blaming SP for failures in the transfer market! Who are we supposed to have missed ? Big money has been spent on Benteke, Sakho, van Arnault, Luca, Tomkins, Schlupp, McCarthy and Townsend. Our squad cost must be approaching £150 million. How many clubs manage to buy everyone they want to ? It’s just not that easy. Without the injuries we have a very good squad but it is always vital to keep adding the right players. We already have a goalkeeper lined up and no doubt there will be some difficult negotiations over Loftus-Cheek which if unsuccessful will see a search for other midfielders.

Ah the first sniff of safety and we are back to blowing smoke up the Chairman's a##e again. Another season of premier league football almost certainly achieved but not without the usual squeaky bum end of season, added this year to beginning of season disaster and a fairly lacklustre transfer window. Sorry but I still don't see everything in the garden quite as rosy as some (who will no doubt now tell me I am plastic or disloyal etc. etc. )

yes, as i mentioned in another thread, 25 years ago we had chris coleman as a makeshift striker against chelsea in the league cup, and grant watts alongside him, and we won! The garden is rosy indeed!

Parish will be comparing season on season rather than 2010 or the early 1990’s which is why he is a successful businessman and will certainly not be viewing relegation as ‘it’s going to happen at some point’ so on we go, actually aiming to realise that potential we’ve been talking about for several decades, no doubt in Parish’s aims too.

What's key is to retain Roy Hodgson across the summer and for next season, so we have some consistent management and a manager who can use new players he picks (together with Freedman) over the next transfer window. That way, we start a season firing on all cylinders with regards management, players and pre-season preparation - something we've missed often in recent seasons.

What's Parish done for us? If you had his money would you risk it on spending multi millions of it on a football club that has always struggled to maintain Premier League status. We should thank him that we still have a football team to support!!
