Great win, just what we needed. For those saying we didn't manage the game, the players know just as well as us that our form has been pretty bad for this calendar year. As soon as we scored both goals you could sense the team were thinking "let's not throw this away" once that happens the game and plan drifts as there is an element of panic. We need a few results before this goes away but it will. I'll take the 3 points and well done lads and well done Pardew. Spot on. Couple of more performances like this and we will hopefully be more composed. Nice to see Benteke on the scoresheet, Townsend and Mandanda playin well n JMac lookin sharp. COYP !!

Really? It wasn't until the last 15 minutes that Boro looked like scoring. We managed the game fairly well I thought. Agreed, I didn't think Boro were that threatening in the 2nd. half. Back four dealt with them rather comfortably I thought. Flamini's experience will be invaluable for us this season, good pick up. They didn't threaten for a while but they had so much of the ball and we sat off them so much that you could see their confidence building which led to 15 minutes of watching through my fingers at the end of the game !!

I think we look a bit suspect defensively still but overall very pleased with that performance, we were the better team against a good Middlesborough. Already a huge fan of Mandanda and thought Zaha was immense today. If he can play like that and actually starts contributing regular goals and assists then Allardyce will have no choice but to include him.

Well done Palace! Much deserved win. Mandanda - quality, so confident. When we had the ball, we actually passed it on the deck. We look better without Cabaye. He needs at least a few games out, his legs look gone to be honest. Ledley and Mac can do the same job and just seem more to up to it, plus they know their role. Cabaye seems to have this idea that he has much better then everyone else on the pitch. Without him, everyone plays well as we seem more of a cohesive unit, look a group of roman soldiers going to war. C. Bentecke - incredible signing. Possibly one of our best ever strikers in the 21st century. Certainly in terms of stock. Townsend looks sharp - both Townsend and Zaha on the wings is brilliant, now Bolassie is gone it seems our football has moved forward too. Flamini was thrown in at the deep end there, but definitely looks to be second fiddle behind Mac and Ledley, but great cover none the less as a DMF. I know Pardew will start Cabaye, as by not starting him, it would be almost mutiny given his pay. But he really is not capable of producing the same work rate as Ledley or Mac IMO.. As for J.Bentecke, work in progress..but seriously we are currently a bit f***ed upfront. Can we bring back Kai Kai?

No we're not, but should we allow the opposition to have the ball for 45 minutes ? Not the case, but they did manage to attack very well coming in from their wings which is how they ahve been attacking with this manager who is no fool and has a team that is not silly with it, they deserved their attacking and we deserved our defending, we are still a team finding it's shooting boots and today we for once looked dangerous and promising, there is no easy games in this league, far far from it.

That's a very good point. Surely some of this has to be from the manager though. That reminded me a lot of the Liverpool game last season where we got a goal and then sat off, and inevitably conceded. We look much better when we try to play, and we really can play when we try ! No. None of that has to come from a manager. It will come from the player and their emotions, they're not robots after all. Do you think Pardew has any control over Wilf when he's had his legs hacked at for 50 minutes and then looses the plot as the ref doesn't award a free kick to him? The manager has an ethos and plan that he passes on to the team, once out there it up to them to carry it out and if they don't he makes changes. The whole team slowly panicking can't be changed and requires leaders on the pitch to calm it down. Pardew may not be the Messiah but we win and again people are looking for the slightest spin they can to have a pop. It's childish at best.

I think you make some good points but I have to disagree with your last statement. It's not childish to watch a game and then vocalise what you've seen through your eyes. I clearly have a different view than you, but I'm not trying to find an issue when we've won. I have just watched 40 minutes of football that I didn't think was of the standard we are capable of and I'm clearly not alone in that view. I am very happy we've held on and won, but certainly believe that we could have won the game without having to hold on in that manner.
