No because they will wait for several losses in a row whereas if we get little points out of the next 4 games it's not going to be so bad to us now. If it's vs any opposition then you have a problem because it becomes risky..... What if you lose vs dross several in a row and then can't beat top 6 in a few games in a row? You become in trouble. At the moment we're beating who we can/should/expect to/ however you put it so that deserves respect and relaxing of pressure going into hard games or a couple of bad results.

I do agree with that to an extent. I think a manager ought to be saying "oi, silly bollocks, let someone better take the set pieces".

Townsend's set pieces were worse.

Worse than what? I was saying a manager ought to tell someone whose set pieces were s***e that someone else should take the next one. I didn't name any names.

It was I who mentioned Townsend on the basis of the performance last week. But my point really is that Cabaye seems to be insisting on taking these kicks and lately he seems to have been pretty much wasting them.

Lee didn't exactly do badly with his, either.

Interesting point. He insisted on the penalty he stuffed up too, when I'd have thought Benteke would have been a better choice. But now your point makes me think of something else: On these occasions was Cabaye the captain? Vice captain? I wonder on what authority he took those kicks? I think the team needs to decide before hand who will take these kicks - or maybe the captain should step up and decide?

Well the best thing I suppose is that we turned their rivals over but it makes damn all difference to them really because they're in the Championship and Sunderland being bottom won't change that fact :-)

As for Pardew I hardly think he's nailed on to get us relegated but he also isn't the bollocks, and although he got us out of jail today he also does things like starting 4-4-2 at home against Bournemouth. What really bothers me about him is when he says things like "the players sort out between themselves who is to take the penalty", when he should be setting out a (sensible) policy and the captain should be seeing it done. Today again Cabaye was fluffing free kicks when Townsend was standing there.

Townsend didn't have his best game yesterday, his free kicks failed to beat the first man, but that doesn't stop the anti Cabaye group still failing to see why Pardew picks him at every opportunity.

In their home grounds...

We don't do possession; we do defense and attack. Everything else is just wa**ing with a football.

I love what Cabaye brings to the team, but his free kicks and penalties are mostly poor and often terrible. Punch/Townsend on free kicks and Benteke on pens is the sensible choice.

All I can think of is Puncheon's weird free kick where he was talking into his shirt to a couple of players (I want to say Dann and Delaney but could be wrong) and they did some mental jumping in the wall as he belted it home.

I started writing this like I remembered all the fine detail then realised I didn't....
