No chance. Bournemouth are going to find like we did in our first season that having the cash and getting people to sign are two different things.

I think/hope you are right. Are players really going to get excited about a 1 year contract to potentially get spanked every week in front of a crowd of about 10,000 fans? They need to know the team they might be joining is going to put them in a decent light and make progress. Bournemouth may well do that, but they need to prove that (like we have done and are still doing) before they are a serious attractive prospect.

I really don't want him. especially for that price.

I honestly think murray has as much in him.

please go for a striker who can not only hold the ball up but dribble and take people on. this is what we lack in the striker role. Gayle has this to an extent but lacks parts of a game that pardew obviously can see.

maybe this kind of striker is beyond our price range. if that's true then I'd rather stick with murray than buy someone imo no better.

what palace need is a matt jansen type striker. I know I know...ain't many about....but if we are indeed buying cabaye who will inject more fluid through balls and ground passing....a more mobile striker will be what is required.

But hey I am sure pardew has a grand plan in mind or hopefully I'm right and we're not after Austin.

That type of striker isn't out of out price range. That type of striker currently plying their trade in PL(Benteke, Costa etc) are out of our price range.
We need to be looking abroad for the next Benteke. They are out there. It just carries a heavy risk around if they will succeed in England. You've got to shoot to score though as the old expression goes.

Remy fits the bill for me but presumably out of our price range?

Think there are much better out there for the type of money being banded about to be honest.

Yes he is very similar to Murray but as has been pointed out age is on his side. Also I would argue we do not need the fast striker than can take people on. With Cabaye pulling the strings putting balls through for the pace of Wilf/Yannick all I want a striker to do is be in the right place, he has shown last season that he is good at doing that.

I would cast glances towards the foreign market too, maybe Austin is being used as a smokescreen for one of our other targets who knows. If he does come I will back hiim 100% and I reckon he will score a good few goals in a palace shirt

Seltz me old mucker, we have pace in abundance in midfield, target man and an out and out finisher is what we need. Look at Shearer and how many he scored and he had no pace. If we keep hold of Bolasie and Wilf, with Cabaye just need someone who can put the ball in the back of the net. To be honest I still think Muzza is good enough for the job

Another exciting pre-season .......

I keep banging on about it - keep Murray and give him the chance to be that man.
Austin is not what we want and he is lazy as well.
