but surely we're overlooking the incredibly important point about what message it would send to India and China.......
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

Exactly my point. You can still work towards your green goals but stop punishing the public. It's not punishing them. It's getting people to realise that the age of cheap energy is over, waste needs to be eliminated and efficiency maximised. Those who need help should get help. Not though all of us. We have started on a new path and mustn't be blown off course by events, or we will never get to where we must.

Wrong message to India and China because the UK takes unilateral action on fuel bills, how many moons does your planet have? In what parallel dimension do India and China give a flying feck? Via us alone, they won't. If the rest of the world eases off the pressure, then they won't feel it. We need to lead in this area, and not hide.

Well because resources and manufacturing of said green living are continuous it probably will never balance. Yes very green! Do you seriously not accept that man made climate change is happening, and is an emergency? That is a view only held by a few scientists, whose motivations are questionable to say the least. It's real. I am 100% sure of it. I have no idea where you get the "60 year pay-back" idea from. 6-9 months is what is generally accepted.

Yes, not to any significant level - we have had numerous climate scares yet everyone seems to forget even the last one: The idea that CO2 is a dangerous "greenhouse gas" is actually laughable. It's literally the gas of life. Nobody I speak to who believes this junk can tell me what percentage of CO2 is in the atmosphere, how much of it is generated by human activity and how much of that comes from the UK (without looking it up) Yet we have endless banks and corporations lined up to sell us the solution.

Same reason 5 ice ages occurred and receded? I have never heard any climate scientist try to deny that natural warming and cooling has occurred in the past, and will again. It takes millions of years for these to occur, and we may be in a natural cooling cycle now, which is being mitigated, or over-ridden, by human activity. The current global warming isn't natural. It's man made, and started when humans began agriculture, but has accelerated since the industrial revolution. This is happening at speed, and not over millions of years. How we would deal with another ice age is for the future, if we can ensure there is one. We might have to all move to warm locations and eat new sources of food, limit our numbers, or even find a new planet to live on. A few thousand years from now, who knows what might be possible. In a million, even the impossible becomes plausible, like the new stand getting built and Palace winning the Champions League.
