I am starting to think Parish saw that transfer window as a one off rather than the norm. An admission of guilt for not getting rid of Pardew much sooner. That makes sense to a certain extent but he needed to do it at least once more in the summer. The talk of the "we were only signing 2 players under Sam" was a worrying statement. The best player to come out of Jauary was unfortunately Sakho. So at minimum to push on you need Sakho/new centre back, right back to replace Ward, attacking mid to replace Puncheon and a proper 5th choice centre back to replace Delaney (potentially from youth in this case. Then you've gotta think Cabaye is out the door and we need another midfielder, then if Townsend or Zaha get injured another winger. Finally should really of looked to replace Hennessy. So I think keep Sam at all costs and give him enough to buy roughly a starting 6 and then we'd be in a much stronger position. Lee is this a typo or copied and pasted from another thread.?

If Gaultier is the best candidate then as long as Cun*ona is never, ever, invited to appear with anything related to our club then I'd accept his appointment. With some huge reservations. Anybody who doesn't acknowledge the issue is either too young or a recent fan who needs educating. I feel similarly about c*ntona, the man is a disgrace and hopefully will never step foot anywhere near Selhurst ever again. Having said that, Galtier seems to have done an incredible job at St. Etienne and I'd welcome that kind of transition at Palace.

Diligently, is a polite way of saying slowly. I'm actually cheesed off with the timeframe now. We are certainly the 'last' of the teams who ended the season managerless to appoint somebody - Watford, Leeds, Hull, Boro etc. have all now made appointments. Only one of those clubs has actually made an appointment I would have considered sensible and even in his case there were reservations. We now have the opportunity to appoint someone better than Silva, Monk, Karanka and - errm whom have Leeds actually appointed? Nobody yet but there's a decent chance they'll end up with someone who hasn't worked since being kicked out of Palace for wrecking their squad and winning six games in a calendar year. Can't think who that could be. Edited by chateauferret (12 Jun 2017 12.52pm)

They are championshipsnteams other than Watford so we should be more ambitious. I'm using those to highlight the speed of appointment. The time taken is annoying as it results in us having less time to implement new things the manager wants rather than because we lost out on Monk

NOT "Doom and gloom" at all for the reason you gave. Great post. And we have had the luxury of reviewing which manager we really want, from a pool of good coaches. So whoever the new guy is, I am confident it will be an informed choice and will be at a minimum, pretty good

You need to go and read a bit of history and learn about the tragic death of Paul Nixon. It's an issue for Palace fans old enough to remember it and one we won't forget in a hurry.

Very melodramatic but firstly what had the death of Paul Nixon got to do with Eric Cantona and secondly why should someone who's major sin in life was to be friendly with Cantona be barred from employment at Crystal Palace?
