Cynic or realist? It's a fine line! |

I made this point a while ago and got jumped on for it. However, apart from publishing Fat Sam's statement (which was already in the public domain) the club have never made an official statement confirming his departure. Allardyce's statement was unequivocal so the club never needed to make an official statement about his departure.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Who and when?' by kenbarr Aiyaiyai. It was just meant to be a gentle bit of fun to go alongside what is becoming a very tired main thread where nothing of note has been said for days. Merge it...delete it...i really ain't that fussed. I like the Professor Plum replies though.

My point was not that he might still be here, but rather that the club has been so completely silent on the matter and that all the noise is coming from people who know f*** all about what is going on.

Parish is going about the selection process diligently. At the end of the day the club (No club) will provide a "Running commentary" about the latest state of play when they are in the midst of such a process.Inevitably there will be rampant speculation in such circumstances - provides lots of discussion on such forums !

I am glad the club is taking the time to explore all possible options. Glatier (seems to me) ticks a lot of boxes. He is an experienced coach who has hsonw the capability to commit to a team and stay with ut to develop it. He has done that to great success ta St Etienne. As a coach he priritises a tsrong defence/xounter atack tsyle. He has a good eye for players and has good man management skills.

Diligently, is a polite way of saying slowly. I'm actually cheesed off with the timeframe now. We are certainly the 'last' of the teams who ended the season managerless to appoint somebody - Watford, Leeds, Hull, Boro etc. have all now made appointments. I also feel that we are historically slow in making appointments as well - when called on Millen has had longer caretaker stints than I can remember at other PL clubs over the last 5 years. We have also been fairly slow in transfer windows since our stay in the premier league. I wonder if we're often at blame for nickel and diming on contracts which draws out the process?

Steve is doing everything correctly in my opinion Willo. I actually think Steve knows who he wants but is checking out other candidates just in case.

And yet he is still given at 25/1 whilst Dyche who was last heard of considering a new contract at Burnley is still listed as the favourite. It would be easier if some of these people just farted into their microphones, it would be nearer the truth.

Evidence, over an extended period, suggests that you're pretty much correct. It wouldn't be so frustrating if all this supposed "diligence" had resulted in a manager that was now in his fifth year, and we've had three walk out, in the past seven years, when we were actually on the up.
Bexley Dave Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing! "The most arrogant, obnoxious bunch of deluded little sun tanned, loafer wearing mummy's boys I've ever had the misfortune of having to listen to" (Burnley forum) |

If Gaultier is the best candidate then as long as Cun*ona is never, ever, invited to appear with anything related to our club then I'd accept his appointment. With some huge reservations. Anybody who doesn't acknowledge the issue is either too young or a recent fan who needs educating.

All doom and gloom, yet the club are about to play in the Top Flight for the fifth season.
