Yes, apologies. "Tosh" was as a little intemperate and I hope uncharacteristic of my normal posts. To rephrase, we can't expect any easy results in this division as we are either up against far better resourced teams than us or teams who have otherwise earned the right to be here. Any win should be applauded as doing a job faced with whatever is put in front of us. What bothers me is the statement that Roy (and the whole club performance is simplistically distilled down to just him) only wins when we are lucky (Leeds), or the other team is unprepared (Manu) etc. Conversely, is he going to get any credit if we narrowly lose tonight given you can equally argue that Leeds only won because Roy had to field a team largely based in the physio room? Of course, there are serious questions that need to be asked about why we get so many injuries and why most of those injuries occur in training. When you have older players, they rely more on experience than they do the ability to run around like a 20 year old for 90 minutes, so their training schedules should also reflect that. There is hardly a Palace player that hasn’t picked up an injury in the last season. Before anyone says it’s because they are old they are picking up injuries, it is not just the older ones. Ferguson was coming back to fitness from his knee then got a serious thigh strain. Schlupp, Riedewald, too have picked up knocks that have kept them out. I’m half expecting to hear Mateta is injured before he kicks a ball for us! It’s something the management should be looking at because it seems to happen every season, which you would think would rule out just being unlucky.

Maybe I could be so bold as to signpost you to a 'Roy in' thread. That may suit your taste more. For me the Roy out camp have gone completely off script now and are refusing to accept any rationale for what responsibility Roy has. Its the same lines peddled out over and over. Some more than others, its almost a competition on this thread now. Boring Edited by MonsterMunch (08 Feb 2021 10.37am)

Boring Mr Hodgson has certainly divided opinion on HOL and almost certainly universally amongst our supporters and when one has a smorgasbord of opinions on a subject there is always the proclivity for rancour and acrimony. I have been in recent communication with some devotees of clubs outside the PL and they cannot understand why there is antipathy towards our manager when this is his 4th season in the PL with us, and the spending during his time has been far from extravagant! They all expressed the view that they would be delighted to see their teams in the PL at this juncture and that Mr Hodgson has done a splendid job.One did assert that sometimes only when a person is gone that there is the realisation how good they were. Boring Edited by MonsterMunch (08 Feb 2021 10.37am) A "Roy in" thread is pretty pointless because he is in and will be until he retires. I only suggested the thread be closed for one reason only. Surely after 226 pages sthe debate has run it's course. As you so rightly said the same old lines are repeated over and over again ad nauseum and instead of being an interesting debate it is now rubbish and boing as hell. Edited by Willo (08 Feb 2021 10.55am) Simple answer Willo. They, as fans of other clubs, do not understand the intricacies of why Roy annoys the hell out of a load of Palace fans. I really do not care what other fans think and I could easily point you in the direction of many fans who see us as the worst team in the PL when we put in one of our ever more frequent dud performances.

With 29 points from 22 games and 15 pts above the relegation places and 14thplace how can anyone say we are the worst team in the league.?

With respect, the people with whom I have been in contact are well versed in the methods of Mr Hodgson and I have had conversations with them about the antipathy towards our manager by certain sections of our support base and the reasons thereof.

100% agree but this issue predates Roy. It is the one category where we are perennial table toppers.

Whenever you say with respect, I know you mean the opposite as it is a common used pre-invective so please don’t try and sound polite just for the sake of it. I have no interest in what other fans think or how much Palace knowledge they believe they have as they do not watch us week in, week out. If I was to go back through many of the match threads this season then I will find almost without exception, rants of yours complaining bitterly about our performances and yet when it comes to this particular thread you post virtually the same thing every time you come on and this time trying to reinforce it by saying there are other teams fans that think they know better.

With the greatest respect you are one of the biggest contributors to this "boring as hell" thread and it would have probably died a natural death if it wasn't for you and your partner in crime Tickled Pink continually resurrecting it

You typed your post whilst I was also writing one that overlapped which commenced with " the greatest respect" and you are quite correct
