Bit bored of all this waiting, even if it doesn't bother me that we are. So...bit of fun. Who will it be and when will it be announced?

I will declare the winner. I say it will be De Boer at 11am Thursday.

You're bored so entitled you to start a new thread on the same subject that's been done to death , did you miss this thread? or are you really that much of an attention seeker?

Do you think though that if this was a managerial search for Utd or Chelsea. Sky sports would be all over it like a rash. Whilst I'm prepared to wait. I'm sure sky investigating team should at least tell us it's between candidates A and B.

I just read his best mates with c***tona. This is a massive stumbling block.

In what world is it a massive stumbling block? 21 years ago his best mate kicked a man in the crowds for making racist comments towards him. The man was banned from selhurst.

He's now offered 2 million to take over a premier league club who conceivably could finish in the sand position as the club he's at, only doing so in the best league in the world, pitching his wit against the best managers, best players on the biggest stage.

Where's this massive stumbling block again? Is Eric Cantona even alive? Perspective man!

They don't know, and we should commend Parish for that! Stop being childish! Go out and buy next seasons kit if you're that obsessed with getting something new, right now!

Believe me, if there were regular photos of them in bars or restaurants the uproar would be immense.

That Cantona kick led to bigger man Utd fans in groups picking on smaller, younger, weaker palace fans. There was also the man Utd coach which pulled up where palace fans were drinking that led to the fight and death of Paul Nixon.

Steve Parish is a palace fan. He'd never do something fans opposed so much.

I like the way we are being very professional in this process.

Conducting our business quietly.when the chairman is ready to announce the new manager/head coach he will let us all know.

I might have some sympathy with that if Cantona had done the time he was initially sentenced to and apologised properly and unreservedly. However, he did his damndest to wriggle out of it, got let off because of expensive lawyers and then proceeded to stoke up further hate and animosity that transcended the acceptable bounds of ordinary rivalry and drove a cart and horses through the argument that he only did what he did because he "provoked".

About ten years ago I was in a pub quiz in Glasgow and we were asked "Against whom were Manchester United playing when Eric Cantona having been sent off assaulted an opposition fan?" Everyone thought I was some sort of Einstein for knowing the answer immediately whilst everybody else scratched their heads. I explained that amongst Palace fans the incident in question will not be forgotten for generations to come.

I don't however think this has anything to do with appoointing Galtier, who would surely have more sense than to let Cantona use him to try to rub our noses in it.

Fair point re the coach debacle, I'd forgotten that the Cantona thing was a bit of a catalyst for all of that animosity. A lot of water under the bridge mind you, plus if like you say they're not as chummy as before then I wouldn't see any problem. I'm still not that comfortable with the thought of managers who have only done the biz with smallish clubs on the continent though (although historically st ettiene apparently were the biggest in league 1 for many years-Leeds and forest could be a comparison mind you). I'm feeling excited to see who comes out in the press this week, have a feeling it will be Dyche.

You are right however I am happy sky are not reporting anything as, with most media, they may well make assumptions/even make things up, to promote their story. This would lead to even more frenzied activity on these boards. Whilst I am anxious to know I am also prepared to wait as I have confidence the best appointment will be made.

I made this point a while ago and got jumped on for it. However, apart from publishing Fat Sam's statement (which was already in the public domain) the club have never made an official statement confirming his departure.
