According to R4 Today programme the Boundary's Commission are looking at the size of UK constituencies and the number of MP's sat in the House of Commons.

With a view to reducing currently 650 MP's down to 600 and create new average sized constituencies to around 75,000 voters - they have come up with their recommended proposals.

One suggestion is to remove Islington North completely as part of the process... which just happens to be Corbyn's seat.

LOL.... it just gets worse for him by the day!

Imagine the national meltdown if Corbyn had agreed to allow a French state-run energy monopoly to price-gouge UK electricity consumers for the next couple of decades, so they get a guaranteed big return on their building of a nuclear power station in this country.

What a betrayal of the average person that would be!

Oh....hang on.

The history of that deal started so long ago that we have painted ourselves into a corner so to speak.

I believe negotiations started in 2008... ie under Gordon Brown and has since gone through the coalition and now the Tories.

To abandon it now would write off Billions already spent and as you point out to continue commits us to a very high future price of electricity production.

There are so many other opportunities and dangers that need to be taken into account not least diplomacy with China and FRance/EU at a time when we should be concentrating on Brexit and don't need to rock the boat.

If the situation was more simpler and we had no other factors to consider I agree... we would tell EDF and China to fcuk off and look for a cheaper more viable alternative.

Mr Gristle's point is that had this atrocious deal happened under Labour the right wing press would have a field day, tanks bursting out the front pages.

Still it's the Tories so all ok ! Nothing changes.

Mr Gristle's point is well noted, but as I pointed out, no one comes out smelling of roses on this deal... it has had Labour, LibDem and Tory hands on it to get it to this stage.

If I recall correctly Corbyn and/or Labour had plenty to say about the matter when May postponed the ratification of the deal to see if anything could be done to amend the terms.

But it seems that we are committed to it and sadly have to put up with the high costs. Luckily this high cost only applies to 7% of our energy production.

But as HH stated, it started under Labour?

There is more to this deal than just the power it provodes.

However in terms of power it is important to secure long term sources at a time of instability. Windfarms and solar power can only provide so much and Tidal Energy is not the answer either. It may prove to be expensive energy or it might actually prove to be reasonable, we just don't know. I might have misheard but last night they were saying that at one point on Monday the cost of electricity was actually higher than the proposed cost of Hinkley.

Lastly, this is a bit of a non argument as Corbyn won't get elected and secondly if by some hole in the matrix he did, he would cancel it, leaving us with a big bill and still no answer to the energy crisis.

Come on Guys, it is well documented that Cameron and Osborne were all over the Chinese and this was part of that process. It may have started under Brown but they could have put a stop.

That great Private Eye joke with Corbyn failing to bow low enough on Remembrance Sunday with Cameron saying "you'll have to bow lower than that if you want to deal with the Chinese".

They are all the same, May is no different but the press would have slaughtered Labour for this.

As has been said this was about more than just the provision of power

We are talking hypotheticals, maybe they would maybe they wouldn't but may got a bit of a kicking when it looked like she might cancel it so I am not sure your view of the press is 100% accurate

You may be right, they do seem to at least acknowledge now that politicians are low grade across the board and that maybe, just maybe, the Tories don't walk on water!

I may misremember, but I thought that May was winning press plaudits for her temporary hold on Hinkley?

Still - regardless of political stripe I can't believe that even a neutral reporting of this decision isn't the biggest news in weeks.
