I thought you were quoting what Marr was saying so was a little relieved when I realised it wasn’t. Still a surprise though.

Did you isolate completely? No contact of any kind with anyone else?

I can see how that might work, though with an airborne virus nothing is certain.

No castigation for the lack of inoculation?

No I didn't, I just made sure to keep a safe distance, it has become second nature.

I remember during an interminable virus infection, listening to a n NHS consultant saying that if people did not do parties, events, crowds his workload would be greatly diminished.

So I took notice, must be 20 years ago, not had a day ill since, I must have been lucky though, I am not a hermit or anything like that.

It could be that a lot of people run away when they see you
coming.

God forbid you mix with the hoi polloi on public transport or anything like that. I can kind of see you driving down to the local shop, maybe 50 metres from the house, in a Range Rover. The Guardian on Sunday on the passenger seat.

I do the same after heavy curries.

Not if they isolated completely, and became a hermit. If not then the same applies to them as everyone else who took this route. In my view it was failing to support a national imperative.

I think you weren’t just lucky. You were also not contributing to the national effort to overcome a shared threat. Unless you had a medical reason not to have been vaccinated then you should have done. Your decision could have resulted, unintentionally and with you being completely unaware as you had no symptoms, in others being infected. Such decisions are not just personal. They impact others.

How so? Vaccination doesn't prevent transmission and those who are jabbed are unlikely to take as much care to avoid others.

That’s apparently what we discovered with the variants, but that was not the belief at the outset.

Vaccination doesn’t prevent infection but it does greatly reduce symptoms and the likelihood of severe disease. Thus whilst it alone cannot eliminate the risk of transmission it must significantly reduce it and studies show that this is indeed true.

But if vaccination reduces symptoms surely they'd be more evident to an unvaccinated person who could more care to avoid others when they were felt.

I don't do any of those things.

I walk each day it helps one's sanity, clothes sports direct tops trainers etc.

I think of an electric bike as it is a bit of a hack to the retail park.

I walk past the surgery with undisguised contempt, but let's face it, they get you in the end.
