Wonder when they will announce Taiwan as a state and fly their flag over Leinster house? China have a large stake in many Irish media companies. Plus, they either import or don't import our beef depending on if we annoy them or not. So no, Chinese Taipei it is. Give us a few quid lads - a dig out please. We're ever so loyal to the party line - and keep your Dublin "police station".

So let's get this straight. In your head if the Jews had just all immigrated into Palestine and took over whole areas of Palestine without any force then the Palestinians living there would have no justification for either violence or resentment? Just as long as the rulers (in that case the British) ensured that no violence happened at the time of the occupation....or sorry, immigration.
No one has taken over England - again, I reject the whole framing of that. Your argument is based on some ‘great replacement’ logic which I do not buy.

The Jews in 48 hadn't taken over the whole of Palestine either. They came in peaceably and built up their numbers safely because the British ruled Palestine. You didn't answer, did the Palestinians have a right to resentment in 48? Were they right to fight for their land? Edited by Stirlingsays (24 May 2024 4.56pm)

I don’t fail to get it, I’m saying I don’t agree with it - comparing immigration with a military occupation is complete nonsense anywhere outside of a tabloid front page. Palestinian civilians are dying in their tens of thousands, millions displaced with no access to food, aid, healthcare - whatever your views on immigration, to make any equivalence between what Palestinians are currently experiencing and what British citizens are is beyond ridiculous. And my parents certainly don’t tip their hat to any monarchy. Where do you get your figures about tens of thousands dying ?

Edited by Stirlingsays (24 May 2024 4.56pm) Do you think the ‘peaceable’ actions of Zionists in ‘48 are comparable to immigration policies of today? I don’t, and so any further comparison on the reactions of the domestic populations is meaningless. Your claim that the Jews came in peaceably in 1948 is also very, very questionable.

Not in 48 of course they aren't. However, you appear a little green to the history. 'Zionists' in Palestine had been moving in sizable numbers from since the Belfour declaration some thirty years prior.....all peaceful allowed immigration by the British and by the time of 48 enough numbers to do what transpired......and defend it against multiple nations. Once again, did the Palestinians have a right to resentment during this? Were the Palestinians right to fight for their land? I know you don't want to answer because the obvious connecting the dots harms your worldview. However, it's as obvious as the nose on your boatrace. Edited by Stirlingsays (24 May 2024 6.47pm)
