Funny how no one really cares where the virus came from. Had it come from the UK the rest of the world would be sending the bill. Whether it came from a market or from a lab would make little difference. If it came from Ireland we'd be saying "hey lads we owe you one, we'll pay you back, promise". Unless it could be proved it was a deliberate act what would be the point? How do you expect to get China to pay a bill anyway? There’s already plenty of things we could bill them for.

As I said there are many things we could bill China for, alongside other countries, but don’t. Starting trade wars rarely pays dividends. Starting hot wars could lead to oblivion. Such actions must only be considered in extreme circumstances. The reality is that it’s best to work with China to try to avoid the possibility of anything similar happening again.

You don’t think the Treasury was involved in this? I am pretty sure they had a lot to say. The SAGE group invited opinion from a very wide spectrum. Not according to Chris Whitty.

We're blaming our own and scape goating people while the direct cause of millions of deaths has no consequences at all. I would suggest that the terrible trade imbalance with a country like that isn't worth it. As for oblivion - that's the unrealistic part.

We should be suing our own government for mass negligence before looking in China’s direction. Don’t you think?

Not according to Chris Whitty. It was Sunak who introduced the “eat out to help out” scheme without consulting the scientists. You don’t imagine he thought of that on his own, do you?

Imagine something escaped from Porton Down, unlikely though that might be. Would you accept the UK economy being trashed as a result?

Yet another typical Mail scare headline, which buried in the detail admits that the data is incomplete and goes on to say “the low uptake is a result of NHS hospitals not making it easy enough for staff to roll up their sleeves, with workers simply too busy to get jabbed”. It’s not the case at our local hospital where both Covid boosters and flu jabs were done at ward and clinic levels back in September.

What happened to penalising the un-jabbed? It alright if you're busy.

As I said at our local hospital they did it at ward and clinic level, so the injections came to the staff, and not the other way. Many staff are working 12 hour shifts, 6 days a week, because of staff shortages. Not much time for anything other than work, eat and sleep.
