Came across this today. Ignore who published it! It is written by Michael Clarke, who is a genuine expert and very experienced analyst. It's scary in that Putin has nowhere to go that looks positive for him, so if the rumours about his health are true, then he could well escalate without warning, or personal worry. That’s how I read it when I saw it, so I’d hold off the sighs of relief for now. For quite a while

Edited by Stirlingsays (09 May 2022 10.24am) I don't understand why people were not questioning the reason why there were civilians in the steelworks in Mariupol by the way. More generally (and this could apply to many threads) I simply can't understand why nobody is willing to change their mind about literally anything. I've had to change my mind about pretty much everything these last few years.

One thing I’ve learned is that many things are not intuitive. Just because something “feels” like it might be right it often does not make it so.

One thing that did it for me is learning about elite theory, which despite what some jokers think is over a hundred years old. One of the top figures on the UK dissident right has just written a book on it. He's half Iranian, which will disappoint all the 'racist' obsessives.

Understanding the world takes unlearning quite a lot of old bollocks as much as anything else.

The civilians were there for the same reason we would all seek a safe place when your home has been destroyed along with the surrounding city. Most people are willing to change their mind when the facts require them to. In this case the facts are so blindingly obvious, using the evidence of our own eyes and ears, that the only changes needed are the removal of any degree of tolerance for, and hope in, Putin.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

The 'Great Patriotic War Version 2.0'. Putin is talking s***e, he has driven his country into a dark long tunnel. I am only sorry we did not nuke his parade. The west aren't even fighting him, he can't start WW3 because nobody will engage with him for meaningless losses like his. His 'win' will only move the border closer to Ukrainian citizens who understandably detest him and will have the west's backing. As for NATO expansion, well he is creating it, isn't he.
