Not sure an unverified twitter meme is the own you think it is. Provide verifiable sources or it didn't happen.

If I had the technical ability I would provide a link for you, but drop the name into a search engine and you'll find the story about his arrest, sentencing etc.

So it did happen.

I heard they shared a bed in Lineker's summer house at one point.

All jokes aside I didn't even really read the exchange behind all this, I just wanted to create the illusion I could navigate the ol' web with a degree of capability

I'll share the negative emotions that brings up in my Luddites Anonymous meeting this evening.

Irrelevant. Why should anyone be required to hold their tongue over anything, unless it directly affects what they are contracted to do? It is necessary to ensure that the BBC's independence is always visible and beyond doubt, but that has to be balanced by the need to ensure freedom of speech or the best people will drift away, or not join. What the review of the guidelines will throw up will be interesting, but it won't be easy to square the circle.

A nonsense decision that was never going to stick.

Funny to watch the back peddling though.

Did he smuggle 20,000 people like your screenshot suggested?

I think an 8 year old could fact check that claim.

If everyone who is fed up with the BBC, stopped paying the licence fee, several million households, there is nothing they could do about it, the day the licence (tax) fee is abolished is closer than ever

'A final thought: however difficult the last few days have been, it simply doesn’t compare to having to flee your home from persecution or war to seek refuge in a land far away. It’s heartwarming to have seen the empathy towards their plight from so many of you'.

Well that's a very thoughtful parting shot from this debate from Gary Lineker.
