Sam spent £40 million in January . Are you just referring to 'Transfer Fee'? In terms of transfer fees it would be something like that figure if all the add-ons came into play. For instance PVA was £10 Mill, rising to £14 Mill, Schlupp was a maximum of £11.7 Mill, Milo was £10.8 rising to £13 Mill. I have a feeling the 'Loan' fee for Sakho was £2 Mill. Yes fair enough Willo. I think he probably was if you include the 'Add-On' figures. Everton paid around £35 Mill including add-ons and ManC bought Jesus for £31 Mill including add-ons. Edited by Willo (11 Jun 2017 1.42pm)

I am starting to think Parish saw that transfer window as a one off rather than the norm. An admission of guilt for not getting rid of Pardew much sooner. That makes sense to a certain extent but he needed to do it at least once more in the summer. The talk of the "we were only signing 2 players under Sam" was a worrying statement. The best player to come out of Jauary was unfortunately Sakho. So at minimum to push on you need Sakho/new centre back, right back to replace Ward, attacking mid to replace Puncheon and a proper 5th choice centre back to replace Delaney (potentially from youth in this case. Then you've gotta think Cabaye is out the door and we need another midfielder, then if Townsend or Zaha get injured another winger. Finally should really of looked to replace Hennessy. So I think keep Sam at all costs and give him enough to buy roughly a starting 6 and then we'd be in a much stronger position.

I reckon it takes so long because he finds it hard to find a manager that is willing to take it as his job to keep palace in the prem league with little or no budget and be happy doing it with SP pulling his strings . But hay we are palace not united or Chelsea. We are way we are . Every team's freeking nightmare. Parish has palaces best interests at heart but what he does not have is a bottomless pit of money . Strange then that every time he has hired a manager he has got his man. FFS, does nobody here live in the real world. You figure out what you want, you do a search of who may be suitable and available, you contact them, you interview them against your criteria, you do a second round, you work out if you are close to one another on compensation expectations, you make an offer, you negotiate a bit more and Bob's your uncle. Nobody buys a Chief Operating Officer or the like in a week. Due diligence is crucial, you have to live with these guys for at least a few (six?) months. The opportunity cost from getting it wrong is massive.

SP as I have said does have palaces best interests at heart. And I agree also that he really does drag the bollix out of everything he does . How many times did we lose a player in negotiations to one of our rivals . He is a very cautious negotiator, he didn't get to where he is today by rushing in head first. We have seen it too many times a this club only to see it go into administration. Cautious or slow as a wet week in Ireland I don't know .

I hear what you say but that still isn't a three week job. As an example seeing "to what degree they want to bring in their own coaching staff" is a fifteen minute conversation and a full and frank discussion about the future playing style is no longer than an hour either. As I said, it would be nice to hear something from the Chairman about why it is taking so long. He doesn't have to name names but even a comment that it should be sorted within the next week would be nice A good point. Its certainly time a decision was made and we could take a breather before the transfer season begins!
