A right wing pressure group who are against a Conservative government. They might have always been against lockdowns but now they have the evidence to back them up.

So the fact that they are against a Tory government doesn’t taint their views at all?

It does show an admirable independence of spirit rather than hidebound adherence to a political ideal doesn't it?

I suppose it does. But with so much choice of varying opinion around these days, it’s very hard to see how we can all meet a common consensus on important matters moving forward in these post truth times.

It's probably always been the same except now the internet provides more access than was available to that bloke down the pub who was always spouting off to an audience of one.

Whatever

Eaglesdare and Wisbech and whoever else is interested, there’s a brilliant weekly podcast called ‘Some may call it a conspiracy’. This week they are talking to a lady who worked in the PCR testing area for the NHS during the pandemic. She speaks of the levels of harassment she faced during this time from covid and vaccine sceptics. When all she was trying to do was share her knowledge on the subject and try to diffuse some of the misinformation that she was seeing online. It’s a weekly podscast put on by a guy who was big in the conspiracy theory world before he started to question it all and return back to what most would call reality. So he really is knowledgable about both sides of the coin.
It’s a really good listen and is available on most pod catchers.

I have nothing against PCR testing. They were a tool to combat the spread of covid. As was the antigen tests. And one of the good things the NHS / government rolled out. I myself got numerous PCRs and plenty of antigen tests. I actually have a wardrobe stocked full of them. (Edit over exaggeration I have about 3 boxes)

I also have no problem with people taking the vaccine and support anyone who decided to take it. It just wasn't for me I didint feel the risk worth taking as is my right. My gripe was the mandatory forcing people to take it.

I also suppose england were one of the first countries to come out of lockdown and then stay out of lockdown. So credit to the government for finally finding a backbone and pushing the covid zero zealots and scaremongering media aside.

Pretty powerful stuff.

Known about it for a long time but as this knowledge expands there are going to be some pretty appalled people who just won't trust again.

As always before considering what anyone says on a subject, know who they are, who their audience is and what their motivations might be.

Dr Marty Makary seems to have changed his position quite substantially in the portion of the speech which was referenced above. Why only a portion? It was to the House subcommittee on the Coronavirus pandemic.

Dr Makary is not a virologist. He is an oncologist. He has though positioned himself as a pundit on the Covid pandemic and seemingly has always been in favour of vaccines, masks and the kind of strategy adopted in the UK. So why these attacks on the CDC to a committee headed by Republicans? Are there political motivations and/or ambitions behind it? In the USA anything seems possible but this seems to raise more questions than provide answers.

If he's not an expert then why is he there?

Is another good question which maybe whoever invited him could answer.

I'm sorry but sitting next to this guy is one of the highest qualified people in the field of viruses.

Anyone who reads these character assassinations should treat them with the contempt they deserve.

Listen to what the guy says.

The thing that both people sitting either side of Makary are best qualified in is bs!

They are Martin Kulldorff and Jay Bhattacharya. Co-authors of the notorious and widely discredited “Great Barrington Declaration”. Something pushed and then shredded in these pages many times. The very fact that they are there at all opens huge questions about the viability of the enquiry. Their presence does nothing at all to support Makary.
