Lets be honest, and yes perhaps a tad flippant, but can the Germans really be trusted when it comes to testing? If memory serves me well then the likes of VW and so on, often held up to us as prime examples of Teutonic efficiency and integrity, have proved that they are perhaps not so worthy of our trust when it comes to what they tell us test results are. And let's not forget how the VW came to prominence in Germany. Some hold up Germany as the saviour for Europe but Europe has always been a means to an end for Germany. That shouldn't be a surprise for anyone. Edited by Stirlingsays (11 Apr 2020 10.52pm)

Nothing like the new labour bench then. No idea, or care Point was specifically about one person, not a vehicle to segue or deflect the conversation into a pointless Tory v Labour borefest

That has value. I'd say that where stereotypical left and right meet that there is always going to be friction and I'm fine with that. Political forums also have an element of steam about them and I personally don't think we should be too high minded over that. I say let's have room for both....I obviously have enjoyed both modes down the years. Edited by Stirlingsays (12 Apr 2020 12.27am)

After all Diane hasn’t ever had unauthorised meetings with a foreign state, and I can guarantee had Abott been caught doing that, she certainly wouldn’t have been rewarded with the highest role overseeing nation security. Then again maybe that’s deemed a favourable character trait in Johnson’s cabinet? Edited by SavoyTruffle (12 Apr 2020 12.59am) Edited by SavoyTruffle (12 Apr 2020 1.03am)

But the tories get to play by different set of standards from everyone else on the political spectrum it seems more and more. Oh come on, the sheer hypocrisy of Abbott and the fact that her limited ability has been rewarded many times over what it deserved surely must be recognised. Patel has ability and is making her way. Plus....you have missed out the most cogent and relevant difference between the two of them. Patel is far more bangable than Abbott...This point of difference cannot be overlooked when judging their suitability for office. In fact if anyone out there still wants to bang Abbott, I seriously recommend that they seek help.

I can't speak for "others" as I don't know who you are referring to but I have never seen any of DanH's posts that could be construed as self serving and I say that as someone diametrically opposed to him politically. If you wish to condemn someone for "the dross that falls from their mouths" it's better to try and do it without falling into the trap yourself

A report says a third of deaths and hospital admissions are from ethic groups. Labour wants an investigation into why so many from these communities. It may have more to do with people and there biology than where they are from. I do not wish this on anyone of any colour but can it really be questioned so early on the community people are from. Time and extensive lab testing going forwards about the bug and its effect on individuals will answer this. I'm not using colour for a subject but just what if this group is in more danger biologically. How do you square that circle without finger pointing and name calling. Can you really recommend non whites stay indoors for their own safety.

Quite easily if it turns out to be true and not just a statistical anomaly after all sickle cell anaemia affects mainly black people. Much more research is needed though as it could just as easily be attributed to other non biological factors
