You’d then be negotiating with multiple councils rather than just one. That’s why nothing has ever been done with the site.

It’s unfortunate the club is located in Croydon. Whilst in 2010 the council realised that they couldn’t loose the football club, they’ve never really been supportive of helping the club or anyone else develop.

I thought it is Bromley Council?
Don’t forget Palace approach must have been 10 years ago and much has changed positively in that time

And what makes you so qualified to come up with such a hostile response?

As I said about three posts back, I'm a qualified planner (not that one would have to be to see how wrong you are on this).

And its a bit rich for you to call me hostile given your previous post. There's plenty of people voicing opinions on here without the first clue what they are talking about, but you went a tad further.

All the points you make are valid, anyone who is interested, knows moving away from Selhurst isn't going to happen. The red tape to progress is horrendous, given that Croydon Council are now bankrupt and in the process of shedding as many jobs as they can. I doubt whether they have any interest in stadium planning.

Steve has to be a tad more generous with the envelopes mate, i"m sure everything can be smoothed over in an amicable way over a nice long lunch- but the council representative is also a business man, steve will actually have more respect for him if he holds firm, saying the envelope is a tad light, fill it up steve, everybody is happy- win win!

You'd have to go through Croydon, Lambeth, and Southwark to because the boundaries of the park boarder them all.

exactly, the park is a minefield. Owned by Bromley, but they don't really want it and struggle to fund it and it borders with the 3 boroughs mentioned above. Traffic etc a nightmare around there too. The locals are also well organised and will resist any changes.
It's been looked at before - it won't happen. Move on

Indeed not only are they well organised but they are very well connected. Lots of posh houses with rich doctors and lawyers up there. They quite like having a nice quiet park to walk their dogs in. This was all looked at eons ago and wont happen now.

Now croydon council are in so much debt after playing property investor games we should be using this and stepping up a gear. Oh yeah, Sainsbury’s and Steve wants it for twelve pounds.

Given the absolute state of the council and Croydon highstreet in general, id be enquiring about sticking a stadium where westfield was going to go.

Seems like were committed to half a new stadium at selhurst though..

The mountains are calling & I must go.

Seems a logical idea as would imagine the land was big enough for Shopping complex so enough room I would imagine. But obviously not that simple it seems .

Planning and development is one of the departments that is deemed an 'essential' service, so won't be subject to spending restrictions. Not sure if that also means it will be exempt from cuts, but we shall see
