As we have seen over the last 20 odd pages, it is very difficult to convert people on a message board - but Matt has his beliefs and he still keeps going.....I think that that deserves some credit!!

Singapore Eagle,

I think that it is wrong for Matt to be trying to convert anyone to his beliefs, if that is what he believes then he should be happy with that and get on with his life without trying to enforce it on others.

This is one of the reasons i dislike Christianity so much, i just do not agree with trying to get people to convert, it should be up to individuals to choose their own way, but funily enough, it always seems to be the vulnerable people who end up being caught up in the conversion trap. Drug addicts, people close to death, people going through relationship break ups etc, young children. I just think its wrong

But Bean, that is what christians do!

My sister is forever trying with me - and still hasn't given up!

I agree that at times it is does seem a bit OTT, but in a message board environment it cannot really come over as a casual chat can it?

What Matt is doing is sharing his beliefs, like you are. Does that mean you're trying to convert him too?

But what if I am right? What if I have a relationship with the creator of the universe. I have no need to worry, because I know everything is in his hands.

I don't have to stress or worry, I don't need sleepless nights when money is tight, because I trust the Lord.

I am not judging anyone, don't be so easily offended. I am just saying what I believe. I really believe that everyone has a hole, like a hunger for God, but they try to fill it with other things, like money, fame, sex, friends, drink, drugs and they are never truly satisfied.

Im my opinion this is a very very naive view to take, its saying i dont have to take any responsibility for my life because God will sort it, i dont have to take any responsibility for my actions because i can always go and get forgiveness and it will all be ok

You are blantantly judging me for my beliefs, and believing that your way of life is superior to mine

Bean - the idea that you professed that religion attracts/preys on those in trouble is too narrow minded of you.

True Singapore Eagle but that doesnt mean i have to agree with it, and i look at all the trouble that the missionaries caused when they converted Africa, South America etc and its just not right (please lets not get into the missionaries tho!)

Rach, im not trying to convert anyone, because i simply dont feel the need to, i am happy with what i believe and dont expect anyone to have to share the same opinioins as me

Not true, as a Christian you believe God values you, which is why you believe he’ll provide for you. As such, you also have to value your own life and work hard to do the best that you can.

As for the forgiveness thing – well yes, it’s true, that’s what makes God so amazing – he’ll keep forgiving you no matter no many how times you stuff up (thankfully!) But I know of no Christians who would purposely abuse the loving forgiveness of God in the way you seem to think they would.

Why do you think so? i am talking from my own experience. The people that i have met in my life who have tured to Chritianity have all been going through some kind of crisis. I am yet to come accross someone who has been very happy i n their life and comfportable in their beliefs who has felt the need to convert

ok, fair point, but do you not see it as a bit of a flaw?

Bean I am not irresponsible, I am just trusting in the Lord.

I DO NOT however, and don't see how I even suggested that I do, behave however ever I like and then seek forgiveness afterwards.

I certainly do not take the Lord's grace and forgiveness in vain, it cost his life!!!! I do not take HIS sacrifice in vain!
