I'm not responding any more. When you try to justify the attempted assassination of a presidential candidate and blame the victim instead of the perpetrators, then you no longer deserve a voice as far as I'm concerned. I always defend the right to state opinions, and god knows, I have been on the other end of multiple verbal attacks just for doing so on the other site. That said, even I have a line that should not be crossed.
I completely agree.

Eventually separation is inevitable in America....I've been saying it for years....I just don't see how the polarisation is ended, it's two political tribes speaking two different languages with little in common.
Not so sure After this latest assassination attempt I'm 99% there that it's a Trump win. I also highly doubt we'll see the democrats pulling stunts like Trump and the Republicans did last time out. Interestingly the political separation was far more acute back in the day than it has been in recent history. Although clearly heading back that way now... People calling for Trump need to be wary of 'ol JD. He's backed by Peter Thiel – Vance could well be the puppet on the string the big tech lobby have been looking for. Will be interesting to see if he ends up being the next president after Donald, there's potential for him to be far more nationalistic and authoritarian, which would be interesting. Perhaps the earlier ones were written by hotheads immediately after the event and cooler ones are prevailing now. The posts I read were all thoughtful and not controversial.

'then you no longer deserve a voice as far as I'm concerned.' Bit more than that wasn't it though? Champion of free speech? Walk the walk if you're going to talk the talk champ

Back on topic, I notice Trump seems to be generating excitement wherever he goes now. That ear bandage is no doubt going to be a fashion accessory as we get nearer to polling day,
Will this ultimately make the USA a better place? Time alone will tell but it worries the hell out of me.

Walk the walk if you're going to talk the talk champ As we are so often reminded. Speech has never been completely free. There are limits to everything, and those limits are set by other people. I don't make the rules on here, but I do reserve the right not to interact with people who I find repugnant. Yes, I do champion free speech, but the response I would like to give to him is against the rules of this site. I am not free to express my feelings, but we still have to endure his sickening drone.

At no time have I ever either attempted to justify the assassination attempt nor to blame the victim rather than the perpetrators. To suggest otherwise is vile libel which I challenge you to either withdraw or prove otherwise. All I have ever done is try to look at the background and make some sense of how such an appalling event could happen. A background that obviously involves Trump himself. Trying to understand so a recurrence is avoided seems to me to be quite important. Edited by Wisbech Eagle (16 Jul 2024 10.08pm)

Edited by SW19 CPFC (16 Jul 2024 9.27pm) It's a fair analysis, we will hopefully see I guess. I don't count Biden out completely because a lot can happen in three plus months.....but it's certainly Trumps to lose. My impression of a Trump presidency is that he's mainly running to stay out of prison. I think he will cut deals if he wins because ultimately he himself comes before any other topic. I don't know about project 25 but I certainly think he will radically change the security and intelligence state who he thinks have treated him badly...something I tend to agree with him on. I don't know much about Vance personally.
