£55m + £5m seems a decent sum to me for a player with 2 years left on his contract.

As for Hrolf's comments, I and I'm sure others who take the same view re this offer from Newcastle, are first and foremost Palace fans.

We support the club.

Players come and go and we want to see our squad improved and that means selling players at the right time. For me, this is the right time to sell Guehi. I would expect us to get Lacroix in from Germany and after paying money due to Chelsea (if any) will probably have at least £25m to use on strengthening another position e.g. LWB, RWB or attacker.

Very close now. Probably end up at high £50's with £5m in add ons. So low sixties all in.
Might try a cut of any sell on to boot.

He's not alone!

Is this how we should do our business then, we want £65m but will be pushed down to £50m.Stick to our price, what next, Eze is worth £60m but clubs offer £40m and we settle at £45m?
Please let’s stay strong and not undersell our players.

What some fail to understand is that we are under no pressure to sell any of our players. Guehi can be sold next season for a decent fee if he won't sign a new contract. There will be plenty of suitors at a good price.
There is every possibility that we are setting his price high because we would rather keep him for at least another year.

Newcastle can pay what we want or move on.

Because of his reluctance to sign a new contract it looks as though we are trying to push him out of the door

He is contracted to play for us for 2 more years, if he wants out then he must wait till we get what we value him at.
Yes we loose money as his contract goes down. But to keep an international defender of his quality, gives us more points this season and will have bigger clubs wanting him.

I think take the money but dont try and replace straight away , we have a back three with Ward, Clyne and Lerma as cover, i think we should use the money for a cheeky bid for Ivan Toney . Everyone thought he was going to Spurs or United but it hasnt happened , he is in his last year of his contract so i would think we could try 30 million bid , especially now they have signed Cavallio . Just use some of the Guehi money and dont waste it on Zaha

That thought had crossed my mind. My one concern is whether he would be a problem in the dressing room etc. You know how much Freedman looks for the right kind of character as well as the right kind of player. Also, I believe we did consider buying him when he was at Peterborough but didn't for some reason.

That explains a lot. Rather like De Gaa when he left Man U. It seems AWB wasn't willing to take a cut in as well and Man U may have agreed to make a one-off payment to him to c0ver the shortfall so he can go to West ham.

But with one year left on his contract its 25/30 not 55/60
