I have been critical about Mitchell in the past when I thought his performance was poor but hats off to him yesterday. He really did play well and deserves much praise. Keep it up Mitchell.

I am 100% certain that Roy would have LOST that game. I liked OG's starting line-up: speed over height. Ayew and ward are too slow to contribute to fast attackes but great bench players. Great to see OG saw that and put them on the bench where they belong, but as I said, great sub players. Roy would have started Schlupp, Ward, Ayew and we would have lost 5-0? Or 1-0? we would have lost.
Positives:
1. Glasner is the real deal (phew!)
2. Honestly, that first half, we made that Liverpool team look ORDINARY. We were passing at leisure in their six yard box. A top quality, team goal.
3. Glasner's got them defending! Hooray!
4. We should have been 2 up by half time.
5. The team has confidence and knows their shape and jobs.
6. Mateta is the real deal striker.
7. Hendo is the real deal.
8. Lerma looks a lot better in defence than in the middle and gives Mitchell time and space to attack more.
9. Anderson should be captain - not Ward - bless his socks.
10. Roy is a dinosaur.
11. Warton is the real deal and when Docoure gets back we will have an awesome midfield.
12. Hughes, a player I have denounced often as being too impotent and weak, is pulling his socks up and playing with gusto - I tip me hat to him. But keep it up! Don't go 'Ayew' on us and decide to stop playing and hide as a passenger. OG is onto that.

Agree, to an extent.

Look at Palace's 1st goal in our 4-3 defeat in Jan 2019.
A great passing move finished off by Townsend. Reminded me of Eze's goal yesterday.

RH has gone now, so let's move on

VAR has checked the result and called 1-0 to Liverpool. It was actually them that scored. Ref Watch sees nothing wrong with it.

And suggests we should let them have Eze and Olise on free transfers to compensate them for the emotional distress their poor fans went through.

They won't find a new spine for the team in those hub caps and car stereos.

To be fair, I think it wouldn't have been an unfair result if they won by two or three goals. But we'll take it. If I were to analyse Liverpool, they miss Henderson and could do with an out and out centre forward.

A few weeks ago we were talking about a new left wing back, a striker, a winger or two etc.
Today, I am struggling to see where we are looking to strengthen.
If all the players stay and get and stay fit we are suddenly looking at a completely different picture.
With Doucoure back we have an awesome looking midfield with plenty of cover. Ahamada gave us a brief laser beam cameo against City.
Mitchell is clearly a fast learner. Lerma has shot up in everyone's minds and rightly so.
Im sure between Glasner and Dougie there will be some very healthy discussions, but yesterday showed so many positives to move forward with. Long may it continue.

Feels like a bit of a lurch. It was a very good performance but it's come alongside a lot of not very good performances. Our worst records in this PL run are 41 points, 15th place, 11 wins. Currently we have 33 points, sit in 14th place (15th ignoring the points deductions) and 8 wins. All three of those records could fall. We may be able to pull away in the remaining games but up to now this has been a bad season.

Looking ahead there are some big clubs looking like they're coming up and the likes of Bournemouth, Wolves and Fulham have improved. The 'if everyone stays fit' feels a fanciful dream. The entire league is getting ravaged by injuries and we will need depth.

There are positives in the squad no doubt but there are clear areas to improve the squad - our bench isn't anywhere near being acceptable.

Not to put a damper on things, but we often perform better against better opposition - we always seem more motivated - so that wasn't too much of a surpise to me. Especially as we had Eze and Olise on the pitch at the same time, along with an in form JPM who's been given a run of games.... I still never expected to Win, and must admit that first half was exceptional.

What I like about the Glasner era is the change in formation and attitude. Liverpool were not expecting us to play like we did. The challenge will be how other teams analyse OG's tactics and how easy they will find to negate them, and the measure of OG's quality is his abilty to succeed despite this.

Trying my best to be objective, I just don’t see this as a game which Liverpool should have won by a few goals.
Yes, they had lots of shots, but only one more on target than we had.
Mitchell and Clyne made covering blocks which is their job and Henderson made two good saves I would expect him to make.
Against that we had Mateta’s shot cleared off the line and Allison’s point blank save from Mateta from a yard out.
We were the better team in the first half.
We also played some very dangerous balls across the box which could easily have led to goals.
I wouldn’t be brainwashed by the Sky coverage or media Liverpool love-in.
