Steve Cooper now officially available.

Lower end PL experience, good with the youngsters (England U17 win with Guehi etc.), not particularly flash or expensive, fairly pragmatic style of play when needed.

Got Palace written all over him.

Yup, tin tacked, Nunes(possibly), taking over.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

Julen Lopetegui will turn us down as he will not have enough control.
Potter will turn us down because of the Brighton connection
Southgate will turn us down expecting something better
Cooper will be hired one day before the season starts
After commencing season with 5 straight losses, Hodgson retuens

We need someone young and ambitious who wants to step up to the PL from France - like Will Still at Reims.

Palace are the 'cut price' option so would suit the above description.

Can't believe we want Steve Cooper - what has he done when he got them promoted? The owner spent oodles of cash on plenty of players and only a few are much cop. If Cooper chose them it reflects not so good on his judgement.

Admittedly, choosing managers is a minefield as Mr Parish has discovered but we may be forced to sign one if we are around the drop zone come end of January.

He may not be the right choice but can debate a bit of your reasoning.

On someone unknown - Gamble though isn't it? Michael Carrick was the messiah 8 months ago alongside Kompany. If either were suddenly available tomorrow I don't think many PL clubs would be racing to snap them up.

On age = Steve Cooper's only 44 - Speroni's age.

On what Cooper has done - kept Forest up. No-one would have backed them last year. We've had 3 games against them, got 2 points and never been ahead.

On signings - their chairman brought in a whole recruitment team. I doubt Cooper has had loads of input, few managers seem to. Hodgson constantly talks about how Freedman does all the work.

I genuinely have no idea who should replace Roy when he goes either sooner or in the summer. With regard to Cooper I had a quick look at a Forest forum and in a poll over 98% of fans wanted him to stay. That speaks volumes. He does seem to be very good at working with the local community and bringing the fans on board which would be a big plus for a club our size. His PL stint is quite hard to judge because he's had more players than Hefner had bunnies. As others have said, with a more settled squad would he deliver better results? As it is with Hodgson confirming he will be leaving at the end of the season Parish may move to tie Cooper down for when Roy leaves, giving him plenty of time to analyse things from a distance.

Because he is as old as Methuselah and has stated in interview he will not stay beyond the end of this season.

If we lose the next 3/4 matches and Cooper is not engaged elsewhere, then he may leave even earlier than that.

I suspect Roy will continue to another dignified retirement at the end of the season and then we will consider Cooper et al (again, if he is not employed elsewhere).

Perish the thought......or should I say Parish perish the thought.

Besides, I just can't see Roy being moved on. He's clearly got the players attention.
