I never said it doesn't affect the respiratory system. It affects the respiratory system because it effectively thickens the blood. Thus the extremities of the lungs get clogged. Which is why it was first believed to be respiratory. This is also why it causes other issues. Heart attacks, strokes, liver, kidney, pancreas etc. The blood supply to organs is also affected. You will note we not longer see people on respirators facing down. The statement that 'it's just a cold' would make the consultants I worked with want to kick that person in the arse!
As covid spread it reduced in strength as usually happens with a virus over time....I remember saying that and some scare mongers saying otherwise however that's been the predictable direction of travel. The rise in excess deaths and where the causes are is an interesting debate and something I've been looking into as the data is around from countries that did lockdown and didn't and level of death and so on is out there. Hancock implicated way back , already guzzling from the Covid Contracts trough
The Guardian first revealed in November 2020 that a former neighbour in Hancock’s constituency had been awarded work supplying the government with tens of millions of vials for NHS Covid-19 tests despite having had no previous experience of producing medical supplies. Alex Bourne, who used to run a pub close to Hancock’s former constituency home in Suffolk, said he initially offered his services to the health secretary by sending him a personal WhatsApp message. Hancock told MPs: “Of course, the Department of Health and the NHS does not have a say in sub-contracting arrangements.” However, the contract which is between Alpha and the secretary of state for health, and signed by a civil servant on his behalf in December 2020, stipulated that all the work would be subcontracted to Hinpack, the Guardian revealed earlier this year."

For the worst hit group (over 65s), influenza case mortality rate is 0.0022% In addition, 'long Covid' is a very real and nasty issue, particularly bad in many who contracted the disease in the earlier phases. I can only assume you get your 'knowledge' from dubious internet sites.

I guess in WE's head Facebook banning anyone who mentioned that the virus came from a lab and YT putting disinformation messages and linking to the WHO and then eventually banning anyone outright who was stating that covid was from a lab was just everyone's imagination. Even mentioning covid meant that the social media sites viewed you negatively. Methinks he only sees what he wants to see. Perhaps if he wants to learn about some truths he should start watching 'basement' videos because it looks like his editors and lawyers are sadly falling down on the job.

Here's an interesting thing that someone on here may be able to shed some light on... Today, after several months of ill health, surgery and various subsequent investigations, I got a letter from the NHS advising me that they are sending me a pack of Rapid Lateral Flow tests, and that if I feel any Covid symptoms I am to test for up to 3 consecutive days (if first and subsequent tests are negative and I still feel unwell), as I have been deemed eligible for treatment for Covid if I should contract it. What the heck is that all about and what is this undefined treatment, I wonder? As a totally unvaccinated person (medical reasons) should I even be eligible? It seems that something in your medical history has put you in the high risk category which is why you have been sent the testing kits. I have exactly the same

Hancock says "Covid leaks are a massive betrayal". Bur not as massive as the betrayal your wife felt, or the British public felt when you flouted Covid rules and dished out taxpayers money to your mate.

I'm not sure why anyone is suprised that the government was driven by optics as much as science. This is the reality we live in. It is also far too easy to judge with hindsight. Let's be completely honest. Whatever the government had done, it would have been criticised by the opposition, 'experts' with opposing ideas and the Leftist media. There have been victims of government action and there would have been victims of government inaction. It was a no win scenario.

With no way of proving which action was best both financially and emotionally.
