Me either.

I think he's a tidy enough player but not the type we need.

Agreed, but given the dearth of candidates currently at our disposal, he deserves the chance of a couple of games to see what he can do. So far he has not been given that chance.

Whilst I agree, and in fact have been the instigator, of some of the criticism of Vieira's tactics on occasions,it may be unreasonable to over react to two poor performances against Leicester and Everton.
I can't recall other terrible performances this season and we had a tough set of opening fixtures.
Like others I would like to see more tactical flexibility from Vieira to address our shortcomings in midfield, but I don't see any player that is screaming out for inclusion and who is being left out by Vieira.
He wanted to keep Kouyate, but the club couldn't come to an agreement with the player.
He's lost the influential McArthur to continual injury and we didn't manage to get Gallagher.
Part of me feels that he can only play with the cards available and let's hope he gets more options in January.

Totally agree, he was let down in the summer. The problem I see is SP doesn’t like the January transfer window. We need a CM early on

A minute ago we were 9th with a string of six matches ahead of us that looked winnable.

This game brought us back down to earth and I think many fans (at least reading this thread) are now venting things that we've all been thinking /worrying about for the last few games.

We seem to be falling into a pattern of starting slowly. Almost like the players can't be bothered until it matters.

We also badly miss the Gallagher/Macca axis in the middle. I wonder whether we actually nearly got CG and so now management is scrambling to patch things up until January.

A game like this exposed Eze's showboatiness. To become a more complete player he needs to do the defensive work, and he also needs to be more incisive in attack. If he can only do the occasional mazy run, I'm not sure that's enough. Maybe I'm being unfair to Eze, but since he was more in the middle than Olise and Zaha, he was more exposed.

It's all quite upsetting.

That is complete rubbish, Eze doesn't need to improve his defensive work, he is not a No8 he is a No10 playing behind the CF, all PV is doing playing out of position, trying to shoehorn him into his obsessive 4-3-3 formation.

“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn

I agree with this..

He is tactically inept, cannot motivate the players, seems to have blurred perception of performances, fails to see opportunity in matches to get more from them.

Also i feel Osian Roberts is not helping matters.

Is that the Roberts who many thought should have been given the Wales job?

I indulged you and I did just that. So you said that Roberts has too much influence on PV and then you say that PV is the real issue .

And then you ignored my question.

I think that brings me up to date !

We have enough players to provide much better performances than we are doing, the problem is solely on PVs shoulders, and he doesn't look like he has a clue most of the time, the players look bewildered with his tactics, 4-2-3-1 with Doucoure and Hughes as the two would produce better performances on many levels.

That just shows he is more of a mentor. As he ran coaching courses for the likes of Vieira, I think mentor is fair enough. Obviously people are looking round for scapegoats, personally I agree tactically away from home we are wanting but, PV can only play those he has been given, and that is where we are lacking.
Willo again provising our relegation ( how many consecutive years is that?) means we will be fine

Probably since I first supported the club in the 60s!

I responded to your comments, I didn't trawl through the preceding pages.

Had I have done so I wouldn't have bothered responding to you at all if you were in agreement with Lanzo-Ad.

I respect your opinion, but i worry that it may be too late by then, i think a DM and RB is all we need to loan in Jan. unless we lose a key player.

Don’t you think we need a LB? Mitchell out of his depth. Plays narrow while he’s too slow to recover, never tackles, gets turned around like a Las Vegas whore.

FFS we have lost one game . I wasnt happy with the recruitment in the summer and i said so to Carragher when i was interviewed by him before the Arsenal game . We relied on Jimmy Mac being fit and Gallagher coming back on loan, neither of which has happened. However reading some of the posts on here are unreal. We have had 1 very poor performance which Patrick has acknowledged. This comes after 2 wins and a draw , and after putting up good performances against the big 4 where we deserved a lot more than we got and schluup and Dacourie were not overun in midfield . We just need to bounce back against the Saints ,and then get to January and recruit. As to people on here talking relegation you need to get real

Agree with you mate. We’re #12, 3 points behind liverpoo a billion dollar team. We just need to learn and make the tweaks needed. Top 10 finish might still be possible
