We have a tsunami of crises and brexit is making them all a darn sight worse. Truss appears to be brexits' last throw, if she cannot deliver any tangible benefit we could ultimately re-join. What exactly is a darn sight worse other than it being your partisan opinion. Am more than happy to look at any facts that support this.
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

I'm all for co-operation on mutual interests but the more power you give politicians the more greater the feck ups and the lies will be to cover them.......I think recent events are pretty strong evidence for that. The EU is awash with low quality technocrats and politicians with far more power than their abilities warrant. Over decades, politicians have lowered people's standard of living, not increased it. They essentially work as a containment layer between us plebs and the much more wealthy.....if they were employed privately by a business interested in increasing the wealth of the nation they would be given their P45s straight away. With the current democracy in the UK you essentially get uni-parties. Edited by Stirlingsays (27 Aug 2022 3.23pm) . If you don’t give power to politicians who do you want to give it to and how? I have often wondered if you truly believed in parliamentary democracy. I think we need to improve the way it works, by PR, give more power to MPs to control the government via secret voting and curtailing the whips. I don’t though see a better system.

Obnoxious again. Little englander is a sad statement. You do know lots of left wingers voted for brexit. . There are plenty of left wingers who are Little Englanders!! Why do you take such exception at the description? It’s an entirely accurate description of an attitude that many are proud to hold. A country punching above its weight ruling the waves. Worked 150 years ago. Why not now?

Crap. They are worse because of endless short termism and mismanagement. . Not unrelated! Both involve the same people!

Whilst I share a lot of sympathy with many of your views, on this particular one, I fear you are overegging the pudding a little. Campaigning for us to rejoin the EU is a perfectly legitimate political aspiration. Holding marches is part of our how democratic process works. I detested, and cut plenty of people out of my life because of it, the ins idious campaign to have my vote from June 2016 rendered null and void, and still seethe with anger about the disgusting attempts to stop us leaving the EU but its done and dusted now. I never had a single problem with anybody wanting, and campaigning, for us to remain in the EU prior to June 2016. And now, post our departure, have zero problems with people wanting us to rejoin. This is how it is meant to work. . Sorry for late response to this but just noticed other responses. This has been a constant belief of yours, which I think is misplaced, unreasonable and unhealthy. Our Parliament is sovereign. If they decide to hold any referendum they still have to decide whether to act on it’s result. Their job is always to act in what they believe is our best interests. In the end they decided to press ahead with Brexit, but that doesn’t mean that those who thought the circumstances had changed sufficiently to require another course were wrong to do so. They were performing their constitutional duty just as much as the other representatives in using their consciences on our behalf. Disagreeing with their judgment is fine. Believing they are “disgusting” is to misunderstand what they were doing.

They are problems that existed way before this government. Yes but the problems became worse by handing the keys over to the populist dregs on the far right of the Tories. There is a good reason why they were dubbed swivel eyed loons and ignored by everyone including their own party until the referendum opened Pandoras box and presented the opportunity to seize power.

It’s rather difficult to respond to such a general assertion. To answer in a similar fashion. There are, without doubt, more loons on the left than on the right. When we look back at historical policy, it probably doesn't reflect well on either side of the house.
