His value is dropping by about £2m every week at Chelsea at present. He always seemed like the kind of player that you had to be willing to accept would try things and a chunk of them wouldn't come off. For that long range goal against Everton, there were a good 5 or 6 in that first half of the season that went miles over the bar from better positions. A mid table club is more forgiving of those than Chelsea will be, especially a Chelsea without a striker and instead with a plethora of players (Mount, Havertz, Sterling, Pulisic) all taking up the positions CG would want to be stood in. Wouldn't be surprised if they snap someone's hand off for £20m in January. Odd saga really - Chelsea must rate him because they easily could've got £35m for him over the summer. I think CG gets in the team over Schlupp, especially because Schlupp looks more comfortable on the left spot that Eze has taken, but Chelsea will still value CG too highly.

Swallow your pride, son if you have any hope for a trip with England to Qatar in a couple of months. Call PV, tell him you wanna play where you are loved and appreciated. Not waste any more time with Tomas T. and Chelsea, unless you are happy riding the subs' bench.

Bottom line is he’s not worth 40 million at this point. We got rid of our Carthorse, he went to D C United, now he is injured, and lost 6-0 at home last Saturday, good old Rooney

I’m sure there is a lot of truth in what you say…he was always so happy and buzzy at Palace…yesterday he looked miserable and perhaps thinking about what ‘still’ could be….

Didn’t think anyone looked very happy there yesterday. In particular Tuchel.. Not a good time at Chelsea, the experienced players all looked pissed off and under par. Connor or any other ,want to be player there at the minute is going to find it hard going. Edited by Putitout (22 Aug 2022 1.22pm)

I'm not sure CG would actually be in the starting line-up for us now. Doucore is a better all-round player IMO and what I think we need is a replacement for Kouyate - a solid CDM who can sit in front of the back four. Luka at his best can do that but not sure he's got the legs for 90 mins anymore. Schlupp has many good qualities but he's not a CDM

Makes sense for Everton to ask for CG on loan as part of a Gordon move. I think that's the way he's now headed sadly.

May not be a sensible one but it did occur to me while thinking about it. How about playing Andersen as CDM? We now have Richards to partner with Guehi at CH. Andersen can certainly sit, tackle, and break up play. And he's arguably the best passer of the deep ball in the team. He has most, if not all, of the qualities required to be a CDM and free up Doucoure to push further forward. Like I said, just a thought but if we're not going to bring in a CDM, might he not be a better option than Luka or Schlupp? I'm on the fence but strikes me as worth considering.

He's been a standout player in the backline this season so personally I think it would be madness. Also, despite his passing range he does look and play like a centre-back, being big, strong, but a bit slow. I don't think he fits the profile of a modern day central midfielder and he wouldn't get the same time on the ball to pick his passes. The lack of pace is what seems to have killed Luka too. In contrast Schlupp is really quick and can get about the pitch, even if his passing is not always the best. I don't think we should be squeezing square pegs into round holes unless we're desperate, let's just try and get those round pegs!

The game is too fast now. 10 years ago this was the sort of thing you could do. But being a good passer as a CB, is exactly that. Limited pressure on the ball, always facing play. He can take his time and pick a pass.

But given Eze has nicked his position I don't think he'd hit the heights he hit last season. But a midfield of Doucore, Exe, Gallagher > Doucore, Exe, Schlupp I can only hope that if we are holding off getting other targets (in case he becomes available) we manage to land him.
