Don't forget that many schools have sold off the ground that they used to play cricket on True, my old school being an example. However, there are two council maintained pitches in the town.

Another test match England won't be winning. The pre-series hype about playing test cricket like it was a 20-over beer match failed to take into account that we have such a poor bowling attack.

A slow Lords pitch, the ball doesn't retain its hardness for long. So why put the Aussies in to bat? And we will bat last? Root obliges with 2 late wickets. Stokes only bowled 3 overs. Hoping for a miracle.

There's a really telling stat in cricket when there's a first innings score of around 400. In all time, something like only twenty matches have been won by the team that bats second. I think England may have won one recently like that against India. The last time they did it before that was something like 1983. I believe it's actually less than twenty, I'm just rounding it up.

England batted first and scored 551/6 declared with a century for Pietersen and a double century for Collingwood yet still contrived to lose the game

Great fightback yesterday and if we have a good first session today we'll be ahead. The gung-ho tactics have been moronic at times. We absolute threw away the first Test by the clearly stupid declaration. 393 was never enough on that wicket, we needed at least 450. Root was in and was smashing it around the park. The collapse yesterday against the short bowling was utterly pathetic and so obvious. If we had just not played a shot against the short ball for 6 overs, the Aussies would have changed tactics and we'd probably be only 1-2 wickets down and in total control. Thank god Stokes steadied the ship. How Brook is still in I'll never know. We need to screw our heads on and be more ruthless if we're to win these tight matches.
